Iam really turned off by the weight of this thing, its a little heavier than my gto but I will wait to see what people are running in the quarter mile with them before I deicide that Iam geting one. My buddies Ls3 vette runs 12.3's @ 117.7 bone stock. Iam currious to see what the camaro does as I have been leaning towards a vette cause I want the Lighter car and the ability to put some wide tires on the back. But only time will tell and make no mistake I love the camaro, I find myself draw to it over the vette but the weight just kills it for me

Would you stop loving your wife because she got fatter?

And seriously... if you are waiting on buying the car til you see what it runs in the 1/4, you are buying it for the wrong reason.

Hope this bodes well for the Camaro. But, I will never buy a car without seeing it in person and more importantly driving it.

I will be waiting for the price to come down to 'normal' range also.

And just what do you consider normal? Normal is usually a split of the "dealer profit" unless you're waiting for the model year end blowouts. So, IMO, unless I want to wait until Sept/Oct, the best I assume would be 1200-1500 off. Now being that I can't exactly pay cash for this car, the extra 25-30 per payment over 5 years doesn't bother me in the least to have it "now".

We can build over 500 cars per shift. We have already started production. Whether they make it to dealers is another question. I see them everyday. Any other questions?

Oooohhhhh boy. Coming from someone who is actually there, building the Camaros, that's a loaded question on this forum

Let's see......

"Why can't I get a blue SS?"
"Why won't they make HUD available immediately?"
"When will my order be built?"
"Can I tour the plant?"
"Can I buy my Camaro right there at the plant and drive it home the same day it comes off the line?"
"Could you sneak in the HIDs without the RS package for me?"

I could just imagine about 20 more questions I've already seen on this forum

I have a question.....how many different colors can you build at the same time? Do you only build one color at a time or what?

at this point, I feel I should step in and remind everyone that these cars that are being built right now are captured test fleet cars that will be used to determine manufacturing defects and problem spots... so there are cars being built, but these cars are not going to your dealerships yet... they are going to be mules that get sent to places like Motor Trend, Car and Driver and the engineering department to for hard driving and testing... and some of them will be built as car show cars... but they are not going to be available to John Q. Public.

1. in a matter of time, you probably will be able to... "keep the faith"
2. because product development isn't far enough along to support it at launch... besides, you always make a rough draft before a finished copy.
3. your order will be built in accordance with what VIN number it is assigned... closer to regular production, your car will be assigned a VIN and that will let you know when your car will be built.
4. that's one Zedder will have to answer
5. no... its not quite that simple... yet.
6. he could... but then quality control would catch it and pull your car out of sequence... this isn't the '60s.

I agree, and the actual cars that will be sold to the public will probably not start being produced until about January. the first 500 or so will be gone over with a fine tooth comb before the go-ahead to start the line up for full production. This is what I was told by a person that gave me all the scoop on the Sky when it started production, and everything he told me came true. He also said that that is standard procedure. They would not be building production cars for sale yet if the planned release is not until March.

Has anyone seen any updates to the number of units sold now that the orders from this past weekend should have hit GM?

Is there a target for this year too? Like will production stop at a certain number and will they then start taking orders for 2011 only?

What's the full production run? Feb 09 to ???????

When does 2011 production start?

They will build all they can sell. Production will likely be Feb 2009 - Summer 2010 with 2011 production starting late summer/fall 2010
