Not a really good example if he's ahead 2 cars just in 0-60. Guess that would be 5 cars in the 1/4 mile. |

PS The mere fact we are comparing an iconic tire roasting RWD V8 pony car(Mustang GT) to a Base Model V6 version of a pony car (Camaro LT) with only 5 years of separation. (literal years - not model years) says plenty about both cars.
I didn't realize I had to like the interior or the mediocre power it had. (I Believe the Nissan Maxima ,a four door family sedan) had very similar HP numbers. I happen to like the 05+ Mustangs. I am not some Anti-Mustang guy here. I just call it like I see it. If you disagree with me that is completely fine. I am cool with that. ________ **** Last edited by jrc1122; 03-11-2011 at 10:06 PM. |

OK, don't know where the times came from in the origional post for the GT but they are a little off. If you want a rag time.
Mustang GT 0-60 5.4 and 1/4 mile in 14@100.2 01 Bullitt (only 200 miles, not broken in) 0-60 in 5.6 1/4 mile in 14.07@97.9 See here http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...fications.html Noth times are mentioned in this BUllitt test |

The better match for the '99-04 GT will be that new V6 Mustang coming out next spring. |

A V6 keeping up with any V8 powered muscle car from the last decade is impressive. |

If it's a 5 speed GT, the Camaro would have to be a 6 speed and the Mustang driver be a worse driver. The best I kind for a V6 6 speed manual Camaro is 14.3 and the best 99-04 run 13.8 at over 100MPH

Right now with just a simple axle back and a stand alone IAT (to avoid heat soak) I'm running 14.3 with my automatic. Shifts are int the .275 to .3 second range... This is with the DA above 1600... hopefully here in the next couple weeks the DA will be closer to 0 or perhaps a bit negative... Also my 2LT RS hooks pretty darn good with the stock tires... I'm pulling 2.0 60's very consistently... TC on and flash the converter... I owned a 2002 Mustang GT vert... was a very fun car... especially with the top down... Nice car but it was before I discovered modding and the track... heck, i don't even have a single picture of it... LOL

If the 99 - 04 Stang GT's are getting mid to upper 5 sec. 0 - 60 times, well then that makes it nearly a drivers race (and weather conditions will factor into that equation as well).
In optimum weather conditions...many guys are getting into the 5's with their camaro LTs from what ive seen on the V6 forums.

When you look at V6 cars in general these days, it seems that the gap between V6's and V8's is narrowing. No doubt that 1-2 seconds is huge in a race, it is still small compared to how SS's/GT's of old compared to the average V6 sedan.

Pulled into a burger king drive thru yesterday behind a fairly rough looking 4th gen mustang with tags that say 'H8CHVY' in my 2010 SS. He was waiting to order, caught a glimpse of me in his mirrors and bolted right in the middle of his order! Lol not sure if I scared him off for some reason or if he suddenly decided he wanted McDonalds
