Seatbelt Holder

Does anyone else have the seat belt keep popping out of the holder that is supposed to snap it in place? It is a magnetic snap and doesn't seem to be strong enough, it keeps falling out.

When I road tested a dealers demo last week the salesman showed me how to use this seat belt holder. I thought to myself that it wasnt very "heavy duty". I'm sorry too hear my suspisions may have been correct.

I haven't had any problems with mine. I did notice that it was pretty easy to pop out, but it seems sufficient to hold the belt in place. It hasn't come out by itself except when I brought the front seat forward to show off the back seat. Though, I do keep the seat all the way back, so I would imagine it's less stressful on the holder when it doesn't have to move the belt very far.

That could be it - my seat isn't all the way back so maybe it does affect how sturdy it holds it in place. It does function well, keeps the belt in place while driving and all, but seems to let go when putting on or taking off the seat belt. I don't let the seat belt fly or anything, but I think the stress is too much as you said.

I am suprised that this is the first thread we have seen about this.

To me it is a pretty cool concept. I am used to having the belt built into
the seat (Silverado) and not having to "fish" for the belt. I have slight mobility
issues in my neck and shoulders due to a surgery last September. The problem I
have is trying to reach over my shoulder and trying to resecure the snap for
the few times it did pop out. My seat too is slightly forward. Maybe that is the reason
it has popped off!!????!!

One of the experts on here could prolly answer it better but it might be part of a safety design in case of an accident.

sometimes if you are a tall guy, you sit up higher so the belt off your shoulder is higher, it will lift easier

Well, at least it wouldn't be a downgrade for me. My seatbelt is slipping out of the plastic loop holder in my Cobalt Coupe more and more often now. You know they sell magnetic snaps like that, so if you can find a heavier duty one and know someone who is decent with upholstery you just might be able to upgrade it.

I think it's necessary to have and it's nice cosmetically, but the snap just isn't heavy duty. The seat back thing probably has something to do with it... If you want to make it permanent -- though it would be obnoxious to get things in the back seat, especially babies -- you could dab glue on it... You probably could have thought of that, but that's the only semi-reasonable solution I've got. :/

I had to change my habit of pulling the belt from the "top". Now I pull the belt from the middle of my chest to buckle it. After that, the magnetic holder stayed in place.

I have not had that issue but I am getting tired of my seatbelt twisting around and not laying flat against my shoulder or chest. I have to every once in awhile twist it back straight again.:paddle:
