2002 Camero V6 Oil Pressure issues

I just bought my 16 year old daughter, for her birthday, a 2002 Chevy Camero, with the V6, and 77,000 miles. Drove it half way home and the oil preesure dropped to 0, started knoocking. Waited 30 minutes, restared it it was fine for 3 mins and the preesure dropped again....Anybody got good news for me or is this a major problem?

I had this happen to me in my 96 V6 on a road trip. According to the dealership where I had it fixed, it was a faulty wire or sensor (can't remember now) but it was fixed within a day (mine was still under warranty at the time) and the service manager told me that I was lucky that I didn't spin a bearing. I lucked out but only had half the mileage you do and my car at the time was only a year old, not 8. Still, hopefully, it's just the bad wire (wish I could remember exactly which one!) and it doesn't cost much to fix.

The good news is that those 3.8 V6s were pretty much bullet proof, so you'll likely be ok.
