oil catch can, amount

how much oil are you guys getting,, i have about 1000 miles and not a drop of oil from the catch can. drawing from the valley cover and i know i was getting oil before because the hose was wet inside that went from the valley cover to the intake.

Not sure yet, I haven't even driven 100 miles with mine on so I bet if there is any inside there only be a couple of drops or so.

Make sure the valve on the bottom is closed. I.E turn it counter clockwise when looking down at the top of the can or imagine you are looking at the bottom of the can from underneath the car and turn it clockwise, righty...tighty. also you will see the threads on the valve exposed. if the can is open you wont see the threads.

look at the color of the clear hose from the valve. If it is discolored brownish at all it was open and always draining.

Also make sure the center port on the CC goes to the valley cover port or the rear of the drivers side valve cover port and the outer port on the CC goes to the nipple on the Maggie. I dont have a PD blower but i have done a lot of research and this should do it. Good luck.

I'll admit that turning the valve the wrong way to close was very easy mistake for me. After I drained my can for the first time - I got distracted looking at the oil I caught and didn't close the valve right away. When I got back to it I had forgotten which way I tunred it to open it and got it wrong. I drove around for two days with the valve wide open.

I started getting weird idle issues and noticed a new strange sound under the hood. With the engine running I put my finger at the bottom of the drain valve and the vacuum was so strong it about sucked my finger up into the can (a dramatic overstatement but it was a strong suction). Closed the valve and all went back to normal. So, if you trapped no oil there is no harm in double checkling that the valve is closed. Here is a photo of mine closed properly with the thread exposed just as Bull F16 states.

To the OPs original question - I caught about 5 oz. of oil. Those 1300 miles were pretty hard ones - I must admit. Several dyno runs to get the tune calibrated after the cam install and then many WOT 1-2-3 runs enjoying my new power. The word is that LS engines push blow-by at high RPMs and I guess mine is one of them.

took the can off just to check things out,, felt like it had something in it so i pulled the valve out of the bottom and sure enough it had some oil in it,, looks like something was plugging up the valve, cleaned it all and re-installed. good to know it is working fine!
