4L60E Goes out! 5 years old and 61k

*edit*
The sun shell gear went out. Great product here gm. He is looking forward to never buying a GM product again, and selling the hummer. It only has 61k on it.

My brother has a hummer h3. It is an 06. It is an automatic. He were sitting at the light, and went to get on the gas, and it acted like its in neutral, this was in park. The only gears that work are 1st (i think). And for sure 2nd and reverse, what could be wrong with it. If you put it into drive, it doesn't seem to engage, you can move the shifter without touching the button and it will go into neutral. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I would start by checking the fluid level in the transmission.. If the fluid level is ok, then sounds like you may need some internal transmission work. If the fluid level is low, fill it up and while sitting still, switch back from Park to neutral, then drive back and forth several times. It does sound like you have internal issues though..

Sounds like that's a job for the shop, unless it's a fluid problem.

It's weird because it doesn't even try and go into Drive or third. It is definitely neutral in those gears. I don't know why it would happen all of a sudden when you are in drive. And i think when you put it into first, it's actually in second.

Maybe the shifter or linkage is broken.

+1 on checking the tranny fluid and/or filter. On another note, OMFG @ your 1/4 times with your 600+rwhp.... you should be deep into the 10's man

Not on those 20s and street tires. Smaller wheels and DRs and yeah he should be in the 10s.
