I second that.. Mine always fell right off. Thankfully it never scratched my paint and I never tried it again.. My wife's '11 was much more flexible and stays on..

Glad you know now. Actually true for all vehicles 1996 and newer. The newer the vehicle the more sensitive the computer is to detect such problems.

Didn't you use your cap to hold the license plate in place? Those springs were pretty darn strong back then. I never left the cap on the ground.

As far as the new style, I watched a salesman hook the cap when he was at the gas station so I knew what to do the first time I filled up.

Tried it in the beggining, but now I let it hang onto the car. I would rather gently hang over than use the clip and see it fall off and slam down onto the car. Trust me, it will happen. Save yourself some headache and gentle place it onto the side of the car

A loose gas cap is the biggest leak of fuel vapors into the environment. And the most common. I guess people cannot remember to tighten their gas cap. Like I said before this started in 1996. Today is 2011, are people really that slow? Maybe it is bad/ poor sales techniques.

Feel free to email or call me with any GM Chevrolet related questions.

So if I leave my cap loose the vapors go to Los Angeles?
