Diff Oil Leak...Powertrain Warranty?
I have a 2013 Camaro SS L99 with 49,000 miles. I went to change my diff oil, and found the diff looking like this. Is this a diff oil leak? Will it be covered by the 100k/5y powertrain warranty?
The smudge on the left side exhaust pipe was made by me while changing the diff oil. |

I would look for a tear in the right side CV boot, because that looks like it could be grease, not gear oil.

This is a differential leak for sure. It will be covered under your 100k mile powertrain warranty provided that you have not monkeyed with the differential and added gears and/or other things.

Looks like a bad axle to me. Check the right CV joint like said. Most rear end leaks will not leak forward of the car since you drive down the road blowing it backwards from the gasket. Maybe if the front diff seal went bad at the drive shaft you might see this (but front of diff looks clean). But looks like allot more oil/grease on right side near the axle.
