100 miles intil 5K miles and now noise

Hey folks quick question, as the title says the engine has less then 5K on it and we started it this morning and the whole belt drive pulleys where making a rattling/squeling noises. The top that off the liifters where tapping for a few seconds and then quieted down.

I haven't heard these before and they where kinda loud. Is this normal??

Oh update: noises went away after driving a few miles.

Or Im worrying to much

Cold outside. My car did that the other day when it was 19 in the garage. Did not hear the squeling you talk about but the motor was loud for about 15 seconds.

it was in the mid 40's. I know my 98' had a loud water pump drive. Just wondering if this is going to be the same or should I take it to the dealer.

You wouldn't be the first owner to need a new accessary belt. Hopefully, your dealer's svc department will be cool and replace it for you without much hassle. At least the noises went away.

I don't think your issue has to do with the cold temps. My car is my daily driver, and it sounds different on a cold startup, but it isn't that noticeable for me and I do not here any weird knocking, squealing, or pinging.

A new accessory belt was what I was thinking as well. The other sound was lifters I pretty sure. It was the 1st time for that one..if I hear it again I'm taking it in for sure.

Thanks everyone.

Questions is how long was it sitting before starting it up? Its very common even after a single night that oil drains from the heads and valley down into the oil pan, so on start up the lifters were not completly saturated in oil causing the noise, which was curred shortly after by oil being repumped to the top

It was sitting overnight. I just thought it was odd until yesterday it had never made those noises before.

dont listen to the people who are telling you "its cold outside". bullshit. I had my 2011 2SS have the same problem with ONLY 6000 miles. go to the dealer. My belt needed to be replaced. The dealer said it was glazed so they replaced it. picked it up a day later. No charge since its in the warranty. the sooner you do it, the better. No sound and feels great to step on the gas with no whining coming from the engine.
