Yes it is amazing. However, when I did my search I found very minimal products which I would be happy with. Which is why I created a thread to hear some input second-hand.

Well looks like I'll be contacting a fabrication shop that can customize me a locking pin set. I dont have a choice. I have a large amount invested under the hood. It would be foolish to not try and secure it better

Is your concern for daily driving time frames, or when the car is parked for a length of time...

The reason I ask is would it not be easier to use a cable under the hood to a frame member with a small padlock that you could install or remove at will..Yes it would require laying on the ground to lock or unlock it but it would be easier and less invasive than using hood locks.

I tried to install the hood pins mentioned and they were a royal pain in the backside with the dual layer hood we have. I ended up trashing them and went with straight hood pin with press pins. My purpose is to keep the hood from flying up at speed not to keep people out from under the hood.

An eyebolt in a frame member and a cable possibly to another eyebolt on the hood itself would allow for a short piece of cable to be used that would be very hard to get to, much less cut...

There is also the option to go with a straight old school hood pin and push clips for when you are driving around and a small padlock inserted in the pin hole when you want security...

Below is both the hood pins installed and the brand I use... There are plenty of options for brands and styles of pins. It would be very easy for me to remove the push pins and install a small padlock to each hood pin....

Have had the locking pins before. they work great. I just can not remember where I got them.

But I am kind of surprised you listed exactly how to do it. I mean I know that they already know how but it is the wannabes out there.....

With the type of thefts we're seeing in the west especially (but most areas I'm sure), your best bet is Ravelco, plain and simple. Lojack is fine, but there is a delay in getting the information from the owner, to Lojack, to LE, and in many cases, by the time LE locates the car, the damage/theft of parts, etc., is done. Not down on LE, I am one, that's just the facts.

If I chose a security system for my car, it's gonna be Ravelco and a layered approach of mechanical devices to force the scumbag to a softer target.....

Many of the Camaros stolen here in Nor Cal had LoJack.

I've yet to hear a Camaro being stolen with Ravelco, tho.

LoJack does absolutely nothing to prevent a theft, unless you advertise having it, and the would be thief is deterred by it. Not likely with the thieves we're taking about.

Your right my bad. I just figured if they don't already know, then they surely won't know how to pull it off successfully.
But yeah that's why I figured stopping someone from getting under the hood would be pertinent in most cases

Yeah you know some of those push button hood locks come with a lock installed. I just don't know how durable they are and they look a little cheesy. I might go with one's like you posted, and then ravelco for sure.

There isn't anything under the hood that contains anything pertaining to the security of the car other than the hood latch. The programming for the cars security isn't in the underhood ECU.

People have watched the thieves take Camaros in less than a minute and never open the hood.

If some one really wants your car, they will get it, one way or another.

They don't want "your car". They want a Camaro. Doesn't matter who's it is. Might as well make yours harder to steal. Then they'll move on to an easier target. Which unfortunately is a fellow Camaro owners car.
