Leather on steering wheel cracking..

Has anyone else had this issue?

The leather on the outside edges of my steering wheel is cracking and peeling off.

I first noticed it a couple days after Christmas and just thought it was a scratch in the leather in one spot, but it spread quickly and over the past week has actually started to flake off on my hands while driving.

I don't wear any rings, don't work with anything that would get on my hands and cause it, and it's not from the Zaino Leather in a bottle I've been using on my entire leather interior otherwise I would have noticed it on my shift nob at the very least.

It's already being taken care of by a dealership (new steering wheel should be in this week) but I was curious if anyone else had this issue.

As requested, here are some blurry pics.
And the dealership ordered a new one on Friday when I took it in. :p

11k, and I only use the Zaino Leather in a bottle.
No other issues on any of the other leather surfaces.

From day one, I always use a steering wheel cover due to the fact that my hand sweats while driving and seems to make the steering wheel leather wrap to start peeling apart. It should be under warranty though.

Its tough to tell from that picture, but that looks more like rub marks than the leather cracking. Are you rubbing your pant leg against the steering wheel everytime you get in and out of the car?

Nope, I would have to be rubbing my leg ALL the way around the steering wheel for that. lol

I have the same issue...its not cracking. Found out it was my fiances long fingernails catching on the steering wheel when she turned it. Steering wheel cover or not letting her drive will solve it. Knowing her I have to get a cover

While there are a couple fingernail scratches on the wheel, the cracking/peeling is happening in an area that's about half the width of the steering wheel.

It's just hard to see in the pics.

Just took the plastic off of the new one...
It's there too.

Going back to the dealership again in the morning.

I see what you're talking about, but are you sure it's cracks? It looks like thin and wrinkled leather from the pic.
