I see no reason for sticky on this one.

I have a received an allocation, being the first at my dealership. However, my dealer has yet to have me come in and complete the order. Has everyone else ordered already or are some of you still waiting as well?

Most are waiting as well... some have pre-orders in, but until your dealers allocation gets selected for production there's no point. Sit back relax and enjoy the wait.

The first actual orders to go in will be Dec 15th... your dealer should find out very soon if his allocation got picked up for this first consensus. Definitely keep checking back in and find out how many allocations he got and which number you are on his list. I'm #3 so I'll be waiting a couple more months.

mlee, just to clarify again:

I have been talking with my local dealer (literally right down the street) for 2 weeks, they have offered me their lone 2012 allocation at MSRP. I accepted yesterday morning, was going to go in last night and go through the order. My sales guy emailed me before I showed up and said he was just firing up the system to get ready for me to show up and saw that nothing was "Live". There was no pricing or anything, and you could fill out an order, but once again, it isn't really "live". He suggested not to waste my night coming in and he would call me after finding out what was up. He assured me that he has spoken with the owner and informed him that their one allocation is taken and that no one else promises it.

So, what he is telling me is basically what you are saying? Don't worry, wait till it's "live" and then go in and fill it out? My sales guy said he would prefer to do it when pricing and all is in place and he can do the official order on the spot and I can walk out with a packet of a final deal with final sales numbers.

P.S. Long time lurker/reader here, just registered with the anticipation of ordering the ZL1.

Klinsmann, if they indeed have one allocation and promise it to you they can input the order and give you a 6 digit order number as these members have in this post:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174721
The Ordering system is "live" except GM will not pick the allocation up for manufacturer till later on this year or at the very first of next year.
So in reality they can do something provided they have been allocated a order shell and ordering instructions from GM.

yeah, he said that in so many ways, but I think with this type of car they want to wait until the hard numbers are in the system and will be reported along with the build sheet and submission of the order. I concur, it would be best for both parties to have the final numbers showing, and signed, when the deal/order is agreed upon. I know many here have not done that and I respect their decision.

I've been down this road before where you order before pricing is included and/or known, and it turned out to be a PITA.

MSRP is MSRP... final numbers will be done when the order actually goes in... from what I hear you say your sales guy has done the right thing by informing the owner that the allocation is taken so another salesman doesn't jump in front of you with someone willing to pay 5k over. Hopefully others in the dealership don't even know about the 1 allocation. Give them a deposit and get MSRP in writing if you're worried and stay in contact the next couple of weeks. The inventory or fleet mgr will know when everything is up and going. Find out who he is and shake his hand too...

Locked in!

Locked in my ZL1 with Power Swain Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC. They are asking $5,000.00 over MSRP. I will be putting $2,000.00 down and will be trading in my Black SS2 2011 Camaro. I think the car is going to be worth it. I am currently deployed and my wife has an appointment to have my car appraised and place the down payment. The sales manager said they were allocated two ZL1s and I have secured one of them. I ordered the following:

Victory Red/Black Strip

20-inch, bright aluminum wheel package is $470

Stripe package is $470

The suede package, including suede microfiber accents on the steering wheel, shift knob, and shift boot is $500
Gas guzzler tax of $1300 with manual 6 speed transmission
DFC $900

Total $57,735.00 plus tax not including the $5K mark up!

From the sales manager "Congratulations, you will be the proud owner of one of only -TWO- 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1's sold by Powers-Swain Chevrolet!"
