But, im still getting the Camaro next year, screw waiting another 2 years. I've waited long enough.
Dude, relax. It's not that they have to develop it for it to work, it's that they develop the HUD on the Corvette schedule now. Seeing as the Camaro is being launched in the middle of the C6 run, there's no fiscal or practical sense in

a. Building the Camaro to work with the 5th Gen HUD that is in the C6s and then redesigning it to work with the 6th Gen HUD that will be released with the C7.

b. Continuing the production and installation of both the 5th and 6th Gen HUDs side by side when the C7 comes out with the 6th Gen HUD (which hopefully will have some color in it, like the BMW HUDs.)

c. Rushing the engineering of the next gen HUD for the Camaro for it to be released before the C7 is ready to go.

The Corvette is GMs halo car. They're not going to put a next generation feature in a mid priced car before they give it to the Corvette and they're not going to reengineer the C6 towards the end of its model cycle for the next gen HUD just to be able to release it in the Camaro.

Just out of curiosity, where did you guys read / hear MY 2011? From GMs literature I read, it says December next year, which is still MY 2010 by quite a good margin

I can wait another 6 months for one, but MY 2011 puts me not getting one till fall 2010, and screw that, I'm not waiting that long

Yeah, I'm with you... no point in waiting almost 2 more years, that's almost the same time frame to now that the concept came out - no friggin way... why even announce it as an option at this point

It's like going to the movies and you see those stupid previews for movies coming out Christmas 2009

Some of the choices they have made are completely baffling. This is preposterous. If they hadn't said anything about this option then I wouldn't care but they teased it in their animation and had it listed as available later in the 2010 model year and then they delayed it to 2011 for no reason and just killed the enthusiasm and gave no explanation or reassurance or even any feedback, in spite of their claims to be listening to the fans and reading these forums.

HELLO??!?!? IS THIS THING ON!?!?!

+1 . I thought about this myself. Its like someone on the camaro team said "I think they want this and this". They never go out and find out what people really want then their cars.

I had a HUD on my C5 and it was great. I would love to have it on the camaro but its not a dealbreaker. I'm sure you will be able to get the parts at the dealer and retrofit it on, so I'll just do that.

PS the entire corvette windshield is coated for the HUD not just a section. You can't visually tell the difference (its not a tint) unless you catch it in the light at the right angle and you see what almost looks like a film over it.

I think they are actually just intnetionally SITTING on some of the desired features because they want to "spread the wealth around" over multiple model years!

Imagine all the guyswho buy one right away and then the next year they start including really "must have" colors and options. They are probably counting on people to trade in for the "latest and greatest" and keep their sales high.

So I went by a dealer that specialisez in imports and knows a lot about muscle cars and had a chat about the Camaro amongst other things, and he persisted that the HUD has been pushed forward and will be avaible next year. Anyone hear anything about this or did the poor guy read the info wrong?

From what I know, GM at the Indy Bash, they said that the HUD will be available in june 2010 (Model year 2011). That the most Official info I hear about the HUD.

I have yet to see anyone debunk my logic for GM waiting to release the HUD. Just because 200-300 people sign some kind of petition doesn't mean that they're going to make a multimillion dollar bad decision. Especially at 6.09 a share.
