2016 ss 2ss 8A trans..

Good morning guys and gals. So I'm having some issues with my camaro. The trans seems to be a little rough. The car has 9k miles on it. Ive only had it for three weeks. I've had it at the dealer 7 times so far. I have a gm field rep coming out next week. I was just wanting to see if anyone in the northern Virginia area would be willing to let me drive their 2016 8A trans car just to see if maybe the way the car shifts is the way it is or if I'm having a valid concern. If so please shoot me a pm. Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Why not go to a car dealer and test drive a new or used one?

Many issues with the A8, a bunch of topics on it. I had mine basically rebuilt months ago when it totally crapped out, lucky crapped out as I drove the car into my dealer's garage.

I picked up my Camaro about a month ago and noticed that the trans shifts rough. Went to the dealer and they preformed a shift relearn. It improved the shift quality a bit but it still shifts rough at times. I went back and they said everything is within spec. I might try a transmission flush to see if it helps any.

You've had it in for the same problem 7 times?

I feel like mine does the same thing. Most of the time it runs smooth but once in a while it shifts hard. Taking it in on Monday for DRL issue and going to have them check it. Will let everyone know what they say.

Mine shifts very hard when I try to accelerate when it just about to downshift from 2 to 1. This happens all the time when I stuck in traffic.

If I do manual mode. Sometimes it shifts hard when doing 1st to 2nd.

Yeah Ive read a bunch of threads on different issues with the 8 speed trans. To answer the question what it is doing. Well for the four weeks roughly that Ive had it. I have experienced three what seem to be slips. Almost every night when I get up to go to work it shifts like crap when driving really slow out of the driveway. Sometimes it feels like its stuck in first then all of a sudden it will throw u into 2nd. Pretty rough sometimes. I have read that just getting on the throttle a little helps. It does sometimes. No I have not had the car in for the same thing 7 times. Its been in for a few things. The first time I went in they were just updating my radio then told me that there was a recall on the trans cooler hoses. So they did that recall. The next day I was driving home from work and apparently they did not hook up the hoses tight enough or something so it came loose and dumped 8 quarts of fluid leaving me stranded on mt Vernon parkway at 5 am in the morning. So had to have it towed back. They fixed that and now I have this clunky noise in the front end when I turn the steering wheel tight to either side. Its been in three times for that. On top of that my stupid steering wheel is crooked. It drives straight if you let off the wheel but if you try to straighten the wheel you will drive into the woods. Its had two alignments done to no avail. Ive about had it with this car. From the research ive done on this specific car there had been no accidents or anything. So, I can not understand how a sub 40k car has these kinds of issues. I really want to love this car but its giving me a hard time right now. I forgot the mention the car also gets this humming sound that comes on around 37mph - 44mph coming from the rear I think. So its been in for that as well. lol..Dealer says they heard it then it went away. I still hear it all the time.

Your first issue is pretty normal. It happens to "I think" everyone on this forum that has an A8. The first 1 or 2 "1-2 shifts" after the car has been sitting (like overnight) feels weird, like you've been rear-ended. But then it shifts totally normal after that. If you're in tour mode...the 1-2 shift isn't as bad.

Yeah Ive read that in other threads. The slips are what worries me the most. Of course its very hard to get the dealer to duplicate as it doesn't happen all the time. I do leave my car in sport mode all the time. So seems that maybe that part I will have to get used to. Just doesn't seem right for some reason.
