do you guys think it is going to have a throttle cable or a stepper motor that opens the throttle plate? i am guessing stepper motor for traction control, but i want to hear what everyone else thinks or if some one knows what will be there.

It's almost 99.999999% sure that it will be ETC...(aka, Drive by wire, or electronic throttle control).

EDIT: Based on the fact that the only possible current engines are Drive-by-wire...and IF we get a new engine...what are they gonna do? Regress back to cable?

I agree. Most companies are moving toward drive-by-wire, so introducing a new car without that feature would be behind the times.

I wouldn't call it regressing, as I trust a properly adjusted physical cable so much more than a stupid computer, but with modern cars every input has to go through a computer and be approved by it first. [grumbles]

when you go wot the throttle plate in the throttle body is not going to open all of the way at take off and it is going to do it alot slower then if manually actuated. but from what i have been told this is fixable buy reprogramming the pcm.

Hopefully it'll have a good feel (some feedback/resistance). I've driven some drive-by-wire cars in which the gas pedal felt completely disconnected from the rest of the car... felt like a video game pedal. The 350z was like that, ugh

If there is an issue with the pedal feel I can guarantee you there will be aftermarket springs for the pedal to apply feedback :P

I don't like the CONCEPT of drive by wire, but I understand that it is supposed to improve simplicity and driveability (oddly enough :P).

Physical linkages are always subject to wear, often wearing poorly (stretching or catching) while electronic/electrical connections are usually more reliable... But I like the precision of a cable throttle, especially with a manual transmission.

Let's just hope that the pedal feel and precision of the new ETC are prime

I was very worried about this not having a direct throttle cable but after seeing some SICK burnouts in new ZO6's im convinced it wont be too conservative. I just hope it has the immediate response of a cable or I will have to do some computer mods which are likely to come anyway.
