I guess I messed the memo on this....Is the production car going to have a visible-carbon extractor instead of the flat black, or is this still speculation?

I guess my point was the entire thing including the vents would be one piece of carbon fiber. The clear coat would be extra cost, otherwise the part would be one in the same (only a cosmetic difference). Also just a guess.

GM has expertise with CF. There is no reason the ZR1 cannot have fenders, hood, roof and deck lid all made of exposed CF other than cost. The CF hood inserts done to production standard is a given. |

I think the full carbon insert will be a vert only option. You can't stripe the vert, other than the trunk lid. That was my first thought when I saw it. Something special for the vert. But hopefully everyone has a chance to get it if they want.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/off-...-a-gallon.html If GM makes this an option I expect it to be very expensive, but I would bite and I told Scott that last week. The roof of the ZR1 costs $2,200 to paint. I expect the hood insert would easily be $1,000.

^^ The underside of this, at least to me, looks entirely like plastic. I hope the 'fit and finish' of the production version better. I'm not even talking about the vents. If that vert video wasn't so bad we would have gotten a better shot of the CF one... Hopefully we will see it when it hits the LA auto show.
