Intermittent chirping?
Hey! This is my first post, so I apologize if this could be put in a better sub-forum. Also, i've spent several hours in the search tab, so please don't tell me that i'm going to find an answer there. The situation is not similar to anything i've found in previous posts. Thanks!
I bought my gorgeous 2014 V6 Camaro (Manual) about 4 weeks ago with 59k on the odo. Since my purchase, i've noticed an intermittent chirp coming from the front end. It's most noticeable when pulling up near drive thru windows, and it only seems to happen when warm at idle, or when launching in first gear. The only way I can make the chirp happen on my own accord is if i bog the engine down when letting off of the clutch. However, the noise will appear on it's own if i'm sitting at idle without making any kind of input. At point, the noise would appear when closing the door or hood, or when simply pressing the brakes, which leads me to believe that something in the front is fairly loose. Does anyone have any idea of what may be causing a sound like this? Thanks! |

I have a similar noise that's coming from the alternator.

*Bump* This is the worst case scenario. Movements like closing the door or hood initiate the sound. Someone please help me out before I dish out cash to the stealership. Just about any theory is helpful. Last edited by CamiLFX; 12-17-2017 at 01:57 PM. Reason: Wrong link |

A shot in the dark... but to me it seems like something is rattling/rubbing related to your exhaust. Thus the reason a mid-body vibration can make it occur. The actual rattling of it might be closer to the engine bay and downpipes though. Sounds kind of heat shield-ish in the first video.

Looked around for a solid 45 minutes with the engine running trying to make the sound and it ended up being one of the shields just before the cats. Adjusted the clamp around it and voila. Issue resolved.
