Red Light Camera Ticket in Austin
Hey guys,
My wife got a ticket in the mail for running a red light at Ben White and Lamar. The ticket came to me, since I am registered on the car. I know they cant enforce any punishment on not paying it, but I am probably going to pay it because shes dumb, and we have video proof that it was bluntly red, no question about it. Will these tickets get submitted to insurance if paid? If it does, I have to sign an affidavit that it wasnt me driving, and then it gets transferred to her. But that looks like a pain in the ass because then I have to get the notice notarized and junk. If thats the case, then we never got the ticket! Would rather just pay it and be done, but I dont want the points, she can keep those. Plus were moving back to AZ in July so if the only punishment is I cant reregister the car, oh well. Lol! Thanks!

I believe if it is a traffic camera then it is considered a "fine" paid to the city and not a moving violation ticket and this shouldn't be reported to the insurance unless you confess it to your agent.

Hey - I think they send you to collections if you don't pay.

I plan on paying, just as long as it doesnt show up on my record and make my insurance go up for something the wife did.

You need one of these bad boys, it would have warned your wife she was approaching an intersection that was monitored by cameras.
