Questions about the 4th gen...

Hey everyone, I'm looking to maybe buy this 2002 Camaro Z28/SS 35th anniversary edition coupe, but had a few questions. For instance, what is this box and tube thing? What is the little filter on the bottom right of the second picture? What is the switch above the radio, in the middle top of the 3rd pic? it has a green light next to it. Any extra wiring in the last engine pic? Thanks in advance!!!

oh, and does anyone have a free carfax? I can give you the vin and check to see if it's been in any accidents? it's only got about 21k miles on it, and the asking price is 15.5.

All that stuff looks like some aftermarket stuff as my 35th SS has none of that.

I'm a bit skeptical because it's already had 2 owners and has only 21k miles...

If the car has any SLP options, there should be a sticker on the passenger side door jamb listing the SLP options that the car came with.

In this first picture, the plastic tube is an inline fuse. Probably for an aftermarket radio. It connects power from the battery to an amplifier somewhere in the car. I see a smaller inline fuse too, so he probably had an amp for his mids/highs and one mono amp for the bass. I'm not too familiar with the black box.

The filter in the second picture just looks like a breather filter. Just follow the tubing and you'll find out what it's for. It's just an aftermarket replacement (looks "cooler").

The rocker switch above the radio could be for anything. Play with it and just try and figure out what it powers. Or you can follow the wiring behind it. If I had to guess, it would be an on/off switch for an amplifier or something audio related. He could've had it hooked up to anything from LED's under the sears, to your fog lights.

My guess is yhe black box might be one of those Mass Air Flow sensor boxes that allow ou to "trick" the computer into thinking there is more or less air flow than there actually is. Personally all that means to me is someone didn't want to pay to have the computer recalibrated the right way. This box would bother me but I am a little anal when it come to doing thing the right way.

that makes sense. he said it has long tube headers, but still passes smog.

Be sure and check out the forum over on www.35thle.com as there are a few cars for sale there as well, plus lots of good people/information. Keep in mind that car show in the pictures above does not have the 35th LE specific wheels.

The black box looks like it says snow performance which is a company that provides meth injection. Hope that helps.
