Can V8 be too much car?

Okay, okay...I know the true enthusiasts will say V8 is the only way to go but consider this...I am not an enthusiast but I can appreciate a good machine. I ordered an Imperial Blue V6 1LT with the RS and Connectivity Package today but have until Tuesday to reconsider. Of course I would love an SS but at a price of $7k more I am not sure. I test drove one of each and yes, I almost climaxed while hearing that V8 engine but man...it is a LOT of car...maybe too much? To give a frame of reference I have been driving an 04 Cavalier for the past six years so driving a Prius would seem like a Lambo to me at this point.

Pros of buying a SS:

- V8, duh
- It is an SS
- It has a V8

Cons

- $7k more
- Connectivity package is not available for some reason. Really want a USB port...
- V8 insurance is going to cost more (not sure how much, am 25 fwiw)
- Would likely have to sink another $1k into winter tires with 400 HP running through the rear end...

So what do you think is the best idea for a confused recreational enthusiast?

You would have to get the 2SS to get the USB port I believe, however, many have installed them after the fact. If you need or want the power get the V8, if you don't need it, save the cash and get the V6. Seriously, you can't go wrong either way.

If you have to ask, buy the 6 banger. You will enjoy it.

Get a nice Cold air intake, or the KN air filter, and a cat back. It's got the performance and sounds of an older v8.

Agreed, just don't come back here in a month and start a thread about "I shoulda got a V8"....

If you can afford the SS, get it. If not, maybe wait. If you're a person that can't/won't wait, get the LT, you'll be fine either way.

Good luck.

a v8 can be to much car for anyone, if you dont drive long dist. or dont do a lot of hiway driving, then a v8 is to much car (or if you are under the age of 30 & dont know how to drive).

Heck a V6 (or inline 6) could be to much car for anyone as well.

get a 4cyl lol

I like the slightly modded V6 answer. That's what I'm doing.

I've been driving a '91 Honda Accord for 4 years and I don't find my SS baby to be too much. Is she a lot? Yes, too much? No. Buy what you can afford and the hell with the whole V6/V8 bicker. Both cars are awesome and will not disappoint .
