I quoted you but this is meant for all. I mean all this in the most humble and light hearted of ways

I have seen this so many times, the back and forth hypothesizing about cars that are not here yet like the ZL1, Z28 etc.

Really, come on. The interiors and exterior styling will always be a matter of taste.

But this is what I predict:

1-Once we get used to the evolutionary change etc, most of us will like the gen6 at least as much and probably more than the Gen 5 overall looks, interior quality etc.
2-Performance out of the box in every regard, better, faster, more agile to the point where most people will thinks they are driving a 1LE when they drive a 2016 SS, except it will ride better.
3-If they produce a 1LE with better shocks, better tires, a bit more power the mustang gt 350 will go back to the drawing boards.
4-When they make the ZL1 it will be pushing 700 hp and will cost no more than 60 to 65k. The mustang GT350 and any Gt 500 they are contemplating, will be re thought. That ATS chassis is that good.
5-GM is not playing games with producing awesome handling and engineered products now and we will be the benefactors as the Fords and Chryslers try to keep up making them better as well.
6-That 6th gen is getting awesome reviews, any nitpicking by us is mostly conjecture and probably way off base.

I have not been lucky enough to see the new gen 6 yet except on tv. I have read what everyone has posted here and it seems like the cost will make the difference if anyone upgrades to the gen 6. From what I gather the new camaro is smaller inside and probably overall. I guess that is what GM did to cut the weight off of the car plus I know the chassis is lighter also. You have to ask yourself will it really be better being a lighter car with more HP? I had a 13 model Z and took it to ADM and it left there with 711 rwhp. It was just plain scary to drive even with the gen 5 being as heavy as it is. You had to give my car your full attention every second you drove it because if you gave the go pedal to much at the wrong time it would break loose and you were trying to keep control of it. I think the guys who gave the hellcat the power it has is because it is a heavy car and that helps somewhat to keep the car in control of the driver. [don't scold me I know some have been crashed by idiots who do not know how to drive] I am just saying if they build a new ZL1 with 620-640hp and it is lighter we will still have the same problems as we do now, traction! With all that said, from what I have seen of the new gen 6 I am not a fan of the new look. I especially do not like the lines on the back bumper below the tail lights and if it is smaller inside,I am out on getting one. But I do not see my 15 ZL1 going anywhere,I really do think it is the best camaro ever built.

I am not feeling the exterior or interior styling at all. Just my opinion. I am perfectly content with what I have even if it is a heavy pig. Can't beat the First Gen Lines, Robust Platform, and for me...the "1982 Radio." <-- That is for you KaBoom.

^^^^^THIS. 100% AGREE^^^^^

My Bro-in-law has an ATS, AWD (no MRC), 2.0L, with the Performance option group (this is not a "V"). I fell in love with this car. The steering is amazing. The car begs you to push it harder. So nimble and responsive. When I first heard the Gen6 was to be built on this chassis, I knew it was going to at least be as damn good as the ATS. Judging from the feedback of others so far, GM hit a grand slam.

One thing sucks bad about the Gen6 though.

How do I convince my wife I NEED a Gen6 1LE?

I have seen YouTube videos where people claim it's a Gen 6 1LE or ZL1 (same videos I think). Does anyone know if there is actual discussion on a 2017 Gen 6 performance car - 50th anniversary?

Well maybe the SS is when it comes to the numbers but it is a lot smaller inside and I am not impressed with the way the new interior looks .

Now think about this the new top of the line Vett Z06 comes with 650 HP for 100,000.00 . The new CTS. V comes with 640 HP for 83,995. Chevy is not going to make the new top of the line Camaro with more HP then the Z06 and if the new top of the line Camaro fallows the CTS V like it has in the past we are looking at a Camaro with 640 HP for 80,000. Now I took my 2014 ZL1 (that cost me 55,000) and drop 5000.00 in upgrades in it and have 728 HP at the crank ..... I think I will just keep my ZL1 .
The stock SS puts up times on track very close to that of the outgoing ZL1. It might sting, but it's true.

It is definitely smaller, and the interior is different. In my opinion, it is lightyears ahead of where the current car is...but styling is of course subjective.

No one is forcing you to buy a new Camaro. It's perfectly alright to like your ZL1 better - that's a good thing!

For the record, I would expect a new ZL1/Z/28 with the LT4 to come in between 60k and 70k. Camaro has always been value priced compared to its "family members".

On that note with the LT4, I am honestly a little ignorant on the subject but... What about the oil blowback issues they're having with it and the class action lawsuit? Was it improper breakin or is there a serious issue?

I don't know if it's "lightyears" ahead of the current car. The interior is redesigned, but I'm not sure if I like the retro '70's Pong styled radio/media/navi bezel. I think the one in the new Impala looks a lot better.

Also, I question the ultra low placement of the center vents in the dash. The binnacle pod for the instrument cluster seems to sit too high as well blocking forward vision for shorter drivers.

Less headroom for rear seat passengers and a smaller trunk is not the kind of progress I would use the description of "lightyears ahead" for. However, it is a Camaro so those things should take a back seat so to speak (no pun intended lol) to power, handling and ultimately styling.

I think we all can agree on is that the 5TH Gen is in the top two most iconic generations of the Camaro. The 1ST Gen being first with ours being a close second. They say that sequels don't live up to the original, but I believe otherwise

The 6TH Gen may have a tough time equaling the production #s, IMHO. It will have an advantage due to the already exceptional chassis dynamics and outstanding powertrains. I have not seen on in person yet (this makes a huge difference in forming an opinion) to make a final judgement on the design.

While I did not buy my 5TH Gen purely to impress others with its great looks, it is very satisfying to see people of all ilks, men, women, children young and old, light up at the sight of it. I had one young boy go off his rocker, he must've had too much Monster Energy and candy prior to seeing it, and he just went bonkers. Very funny!

Too early to tell. Historically, the 50th anniversary will be available in one of four models;

2LT/RS Coupe
2LT/RS Vert
2SS/RS Coupe
2SS/RS Vert

Sunroof for the coupe will likely come with the model (that you will have to pay for as a line item), making the only two real options on the car navigation and if manual/auto.

I can't see why anyone would want to sell a gen5 to get the 2016. I would think the money you would drop in price difference would be better put to use modding the hell out of your gen5. You end up with a personalized car and will crush any stock 2016.
