Ya.....10s get one year, 11s only get 6 months. Part of the new model year features, or lack of, I guess.

The promotion I was offered was $9.99 for 300 minutes but the non-promotion rate is $114 for 300 minutes.

I just talked to Onstar and because we have the turn by turn premium package it's offered for six months. My husband just purchased a Vette at the same time I got the Maro and he has the 1 year subscription because he has the basic package.

Onstar is a broken business and a total rip-off.

6 months? That blows. Mine is a 2010, so I have 1 year and I got 30mins free. I did NOT give them any credit card info when I signed up either, my salesman sat in the car with me, so setup was super simple.

Which now makes me think, my XM was supposed to expire a few days ago... but I still have it. Hmmmm.

I was surprise too when they told me OnStar was only 6 months now ..
So I called Onstar up the day after I traded in my 2010 V6 to get some answers on to why the change , by the end of my conversation with the OnStar Rep. she extended it to a 6 month plan to a 1 yr free Directions and Connections Plan with the Free 3 month trial plan on top of all that for a total of 15 months FREE !

My plan even gets better along with the plan you get 100 free minutes of Hands Free Calling well they also offered me 300 bonus minutes for $9.99 which I took and they also rolled over 500 minutes that I had left over from my traded in V6 Camaro for a total of 900 minutes to go along with the free
15 months of Directions & Connections ! !

So when you break it all down I got 15 months of Directions & Connections with 900 minutes of Hands Free Calling with my New 2011 2SS/RS by just calling OnStar up to ask a question about why they changed from 12 to 6 months of OnStar and at the end of all that I get a "GREAT DEAL" from just asking a question , you can't complain about that ! !

All 2011 Models from the Aveo to a Corvette have only 6 months of Onstar instead of using different plans for some vehicles GM went with Directions and Connections for the 6 months. Now the new promotional minutes are 14.99 for 300 minutes only when you do the Onstar welcome call.

$30/mo for navigation that is free with regular gps systems irks me a bit. But I understand that its only an extra $10 more than the standard onstar fee. So I guess it's the $20/mo fee for emergency response that you'll use 0 or 1 time in your life that s a rip off.. I mean emergency road service with Geico is about $9 every 6 months for me.. and I've used it 3 times in the past 4 years because of locked keys and flats... You don't need Onstar for a flat, only if your are disabled or your phone is broken... That's a pretty rare case in my opinion for $20/mo. If my car gets stolen, I guess that's another issue, but still, once in a lifetime event. Do you know anybody that has had their car stolen more than once if at all??

Lets say you use navigation 15 times a month, so every other day. And lets also say the average call to get directions takes 1 minute. So at $30/mo. That's $30 for 15 minutes of service or $120/hr. I bet the average person uses navigation less than 5 times a month, so making that assumption, you're paying $360/hr.

The car's great though I just won't be renewing my onstar...

Great advice. Never let any subscription service have your CC#... and your leverage power.

Doesn't the standard GM warranty come with roadside assistance for the duration of the warranty? From the way it was described to me, if you have OnStar active it will link to, but if not then you just call their 1800 number.

May want to save that $9
