Title is misleading … you should have said Former Friend … good luck with the repair and take it to a good shop. You definitely get what you pay for!

Find a very good upholstery shop. They will be able to repair it or be able to order the material to replace that panel in the seat. A good shop can make it look like new again.

The GM p/n should be 84140008 for the lower passenger leather cover on a 50th. The critical RPO is 4F4 for the Black/Galvanized color interior trim.

I'd try a repair as others have said, and have the "spare" in my back pocket if/when the repair fails. Start searching around...

I hate defects

I absolutely hate any defect in my cars. We got a rock chip in my wife's Cadillac and I absolutely hate driving that car. It's not big enough to bother vision and my deductible is too high to replace it, so I live with it but not very frequently.

I had a very minor paint flaw in my 2018 and it bothered me the entire time I owned it. Yes, I understand your trauma. But, remember: Good friends are hard to come by...forgive him and get it fixed and move on to better thoughts.

Def take to a legit high quality upholstery shop. I'm sure they could fix it up perfectly.

Have you talked to your insurance? My insurance waives the deductible if it’s a windshield repair. They asked me over the phone if it was blocking vision and I said yes *shrugs* it was a small chip on the left side

Hopefully your friend pays for it or at least helps with a part of it

If he’s a good friend just remember you can get another car…. Good friends are hard to come by. Leather shop hopefully can repair. Some people f those guys are artist.

Ignore the overly OCD comments…

Your friend meant no harm. If he can pay for it good if not so what… it’s just a car fix it the best you can and go on…

I'm pretty sure most, including myself, were just kidding. I agree it's nothing to lose a friendship over.

Windshield repairs and replacements are non-deductible by law (in some states), not out of the kindness of your insurance company. It's because broken windshields are a safety hazard.
