Cool New Chevy Camaro: From Concept To Reality

We did an in-depth walk-around with Camaro designer Jeff Perkins. He walked us through every change made between the concept and the production versions, and we've highlighted the changes in pictures:

It's a good comparison for sure. They don't seem to note that the SS and the RS are different, though.

Awesome read. THANKS!

P.S. I called it on the reason the taillamps were never going to be the same as the concepts!

Actually, we did note that. Check out each picture in the gallery. In each shot we have Perkins' quotes talking about how the two models are different.

I just wish they would release a shot of the lights on so I can see if it has the afterbruner effect (lights around, but not the main part of the lens at some point). Would be nice for the taillights to have the U shaped face to light up for taillights and the main flat lens light up under braking.

Concept Vs. Production

wish we had this a month ago, we all would have went nuts. but here is a side by side with matching angles. Concept vs. Production. Have at it.

sorry about the numbers, kind of distracting but I couldn't get rid of them .But they note changes.

They don't have the afterburner effect. Watch this video closely right when the Camaro pulls out of the parking lot (brakes on) and into the street (brakes off, taillights on). [timer at 50 seconds or so remaining]

this is a great thread...made it very clear...i need to bookmark this so when i take it to a custom shop they can work their magic...

operation get my production to look like the concept

all of that can be fixed except for the rear taillights which look more squished than the concept rear

i like the new interior better than the concept though

i can't wait to see what the aftermarket offers and i hope they offer concept mods

I still think the Production car looks 2x better than the Concept.
The concept is starting to already lose its appeal to me. It's beginning to look plain, and.....not 'boring'- but heading that direction.

reverse lights, emphasized afterburner effect tails and the deeper cut rims. Those are the only things I like on the concept better.

Otherwise I find the cars about even.
