Polished Aluminum Wheels and the V6 Idle

Just curious....

Question 1 for those with the 20 inch polished alum. wheels. Do the front wheels appear as "polished" as the rear. After washing all 4 with regular car soap and polishing them with Eagle 1 nano-wax, I noticed that the front wheels have a light haze or "milky" look to them, but not so on the rear. The rears have a pretty good polished finish to them. Its not a brake dust issue, nor have I used a harsh cleaner or abrasive polish on them.

Question 2 - Initial Idle - on my Auto V6 I noticed that for the first 20 seconds after a cold start it idles a bit rough, but when the idle goes down after 20 secs, the idle is as smooth as silk. Not a biggie, mostly wondering if anyone else noticed this.

Let me know, thanks

Maybe it has something to do with the car being RWD

1. Haven't noticed this. She's had two detailings and I've looked but not studied for any difference.

2. My V8 kind of lopes at cold idle. Goes away when warm.

1. Haven't washed it yet but I see no dif. between the two.
2. Fast idle first 20 seconds or so then the idle drops down.

For the V6 idle, the high pressure fuel injectors of the SIDI will make some noise. They operate at 1500 psi!

Ask anyone with a Sky Redline or Solstice GXP

The only thing I can think of is the clear coat over the polished wheels on my wife’s Suburban the rear look more hi-polished over the front the front have a good haze to them. I tried a little rubbing compound on one of them and that cleaned the front up.

I had the same thing with my 97 WS6 the wheels had a haze to them, the same with the 30th Anniversary TA wheels it's the clear coat that manufacture applies to them.

Since High Polished wheels were offered on the vette years ago my folks have complained about the "uneven" appearance wheel to wheel.

I'm guessing it's a by-product of the manufacturing process.

mismatched bumpers and now this.. Why oh why do I keep coming back to this forum while I ponder what my baby will have.. Hopefully nothing but the more problems people are noticing, the more there is a chance mine will have at least one of them...

Chill! Not big issues. I'm being picky. Don't be alarmed, neither are complaints. I was just curious if other picky folks noticed these things. I assumed the idle issue was normal since its consistent and would make sense given that its only for 20 seconds on start up.
Regarding the wheels, you'd have to be up close to even notice.

GM's polished wheels on Covettes have been "milky" looking since they were introduced years ago and many owner's have complained. That is one reason why Chomed Aluminum wheels are so popular on Corvettes now. I hope they offer this for Camaro when I am ready to pull the trigger...

Number 3 would idle a little higher for a bit after a cold start and then settle into a lower idle speed. I don't think that is anything to worry about.

Can't add much about the wheels.
