My car got keyed..
   Yeah so it happened in the school parking lot this morning. I got the worst feeling in my stomach the second I saw this and not to mention I'm beyond pissed off. No car owner should ever have this happen to them. Its my senior year in highschool, and my second year driving my car to school everyday. I would have never seen this coming. I don't even have an idea on who it could have been. Hopefully the school's surveillance cameras catch the ignorant jackass who did this.. To anyone that has ever experienced this or knows how to handle a situation like this well, your advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. |

File a comprehensive claim with your insurance company first, they will fix the paint and most won't raise your rate to do this. Hopefully your deductible is low because as someone who ten years in biz I'm going to tell you some bad news about outdoor PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) cameras.....they are almost never pointed where you want them. Even if the outdoor PTZ was pointed at your vehicle unless your school has a good DVR playback you probably won't be able to identify the culprit. Once you have filed your claim contact the school security, I'd do this fast so something doesn't magically get erased somehow. I don't know your circumstances but I tell you this; the majority of crimes come from the age groups 12-18 and 19-25. You probably pissed someone off and didn't realize it or someone is jealous of your car.
Send me a PM if you have any questions that might be able to answer, hope this works out for you. Incidentally if you do get lucky and ID who did this, file vandalism charges and go after their insurance company for the damages. A lot of people will tell you not to do this, but it is the only sure fire way this won't happen again. If you can, send a message that you don't tolerate your property being violated like this.

Mine got keyed with only 1200 on her... filed with my insurance and they paid and got a new paintjob. Can't even tell it happened.. don't accept the car unless u are 100% satisfied with the job they did.
