The only thing I hope GM does for the Z28 is put forged pistons in the damn thing.
Now I am a ford fan, so I might be a little biased, but in my opinion if they put out a Z28 with the LSA engine(without forged pistons) it will still be a win for the GT500. Mainly because you can make stupid power right now with a GT500 without ever having to go into the engine. My friend put on a kenne bell blower, exhaust, throttle bodies, boost a pump, cai, and one or two other minor things and makes 826rwhp in his GT500. Just please please GM put forged slugs in the Z28. |

To me, real bragging rights between cars are based on stock vs stock and what can be achieved with simple bolt ons. If a company like Pedders really is working on the suspension with GM we know this thing is going to ride on rails, even an SS with simple suspension mods now tears it up, but the stock ride needs to be more compliant for the masses (GM GIVE US A TRACK PACK). I think Ford is already pushing the limit as to how much power they'll pump out of the SC 5.4 and GM hasn't tweaked the LSA once since it's introduction (no need). Now that I think about it... the LS3's hasn't had any power boosts either and we all know how much she has left on the table stock the a flash and exhaust + headers can bring out. Methinks moar powa for MY '13

That motor is so overbuilt it is not even funny. The rods are the first spot you will find weakness, but you will have to push over 900hp before you start to have to worry about them. |

I think sometimes people lose sight of the fact that the average driver who just dropped 50+k on their car, does NOT mod it, nor do they street race. Hell to be honest, quite a few of them don't even read message boards. GT500 is a damn nice car, hopefully the Z28 is of the same quality. I know whatever car I buy it will not be because it is .xx faster than the other, it will be because I like the looks, the way it drives and the other intangibles that go along with a 50K plus car.
Just my .02, YMMV |

I didn't say pushing the limits, I said pushing the limits as to how much power they'll pump out of it. I just don't see Ford making a 600hp/550tq GT500 with a full warranty. I'm sure they'll play the tweaking game some more after the Z/28 debuts, but seriously... not that much. Unfortunately if they did the Camaro's got the Vette as a glass ceiling, but I guess fortunately for Chevy the Vette exist as the glass ceiling!

I agree... but it's always fun. The real point of my original post was to see if I was the only one that thought it was strange that Ford fanboys and couch racers are putting the GT500 ahead of the Z/28 when we already have a very close analog in the CTS-V that (marginally) outperforms the GT500.
