I can promise you one thing. There will be a Z/28 out run a GT500 as there will as be a GT500 that will out run a Z/28.

Wake up people don't you see that these car companies are just playing us to sell cars.

I'm sure they'll play the tweaking game some more after the Z/28 debuts, but seriously... not that much. Unfortunately if they did the Camaro's got the Vette as a glass ceiling, but I guess fortunately for Chevy the Vette exist as the glass ceiling!
Ok I misunderstood you.

What I see happening, if the Z28 forces Ford to go this route, is Ford making the TVS blower standard on the GT500 and running the boost to make and advertise 605hp.

Sleestack why do you come to these boards? Alot of your posts seem kind of trollish to me. Why wouldn't GM want to get into a hp war with Ford? Corvette has been owning Ford and there Mustangs for 50 years now.

Are you seriously comparing the Mustang to the Corvette.

I think the Z/28 will come out and be right at or a little faster than the GT500. I think Ford answers by upping the hp of the GT500. HP wars are good.
No manufacturer can "easily" add 100hp to a ~5.4 litre without re-bopping the whole car... Especially if they've already wound it tight.

Silly Camaro owners... pft :bangdesk:

It looks like we managed to pull more 'Stang boys out of the Vs Section...
You mods need to keep them ponieboys corralled better...

... But seriously, it's just good to have a hot Camaro back and GM & fode trying to see who can spit the farthest.

Really?

I wasnt aware the Mustang and Corvette were even in the same class of car.

Mustang 2011 (-GT500):
Pony Car
2D/4 seat
V6&V8
$20,000-$40,000 range
Mass Produced
Corvette 2011:
Sports/Super Car
2D/2 Seat car
V8 Only (currently)
$48,000-$120,000
Limited Production

Sorry, your comparison is stupid. A more accurate comparison would be a Corvette Z06/ZR1 vs. an 05-06 Ford GT. Those two cars are in the same class.

Chevrolet's Mustang slayer has always been the Camaro, and always will be. Using a Corvette to take out a Mustang is like using an Iowa class battleship to deal with Somali pirates.

BTW The Mustang has been around now for 47 years (1964 1/2 was the first MY) , the Corvette for 58 years (introduced 1953)

Hp is not the only key. having less Hp and running better times is always possible

a balanced approach. Hell my TVS SS doesn't have600+ rwhp , but i'll bet it will snipe a 600rwhp GT500.

Its gonna go back and forth., Gm/ Ford.....Ford /GM just like the SS and GT they will be so close as to not even make much of a difference.

think about this. the CTS-v has acceleration number better than the GT500, and on a ring the behometh is a fatastic handler.

It has about the same hp, but is 500lbs more.

First off. Automatics have a great advantage, that being of consistancy.

So long as you have similar rwhp.....the auto SS S/C and the auto CTS-v
are tought to beat . consistently that is.

And if your not a racer 500-600 rwhp is MORE than anyone needs for a thrilling Street car.....My god. The big cube monster muscle cars of Yore. dreamed of having the HP and the balance.

What does re-bopping mean? I easily added 250hp to my GT500, with a TVS, and now I guess need to know how to rebop it.

I love my camaro and all the chevys I own ,but when I read things like this it sometimes makes me feel ashamed for being thought of as a chevy guy mainly.

I would hope that the corvette which is a sports car would own the mustang which is a pony car. If it didn't the corvette would be a major fail on GM's part.

Although really the corvette hasn't always been top dog. In 1979 the little red express pick up truck was faster than the corvette. Corvettes in the late seventies to about 1991 were pretty much junk. AS far as now a days the base corvette has a very hard time with the 2011GT500. You have to step up to at least a grandsport to compete with the 2011GT500 and then your about $15,000 more to compete.
I don't understand why my chevy counterparts always throw the corvette into the mix when they start comparing to the mustang. Come on guys are you that afraid of a GT500. I can't wait to get a Z/28 and dust my buddies GT500 with factory HP. I can beat him now with my maggied up SS, but he says that doesn't count because it's not factory HP.

Not quite..

The Mustang created a class, Pony Car. Chevrolet followed with the Camaro, and Dodge with the Challenger.

Corvette has been without a direct competitor in its class since 2006, and before that, had been without one until 2005.

ok i was wrong. not all mustangs. but the shelby mustangs (starting with the GT350) were built to compete with corvettes. I have my facts mixed up. My mistake.
