Maybe it's Darwinism in the works.

It's called the Daimler Cerberus siege, if it wasn' for those 2 jokes and the origional Chrysler management that started this rollercoaster from hell, they'd be in alot better condition right now. Until they can get the meat and potatoes (midsize/compacts) upgraded to something worthy, they are going to struggle.

Great job Ford, Lets see How GM respond for the 2012 Model Year. If the 5th Gen small block is introduced into the 2011 Corvette, the Camaro will most likely get in for the 2012 Modely year (Just in Time, though earlier would be nice.)

I was being sarcastic since the stick axle takes so much heat around here but still performs pretty good. This is going to be a fun Mustang and a lot of bang for the buck. I cant wait to drive one. The weight is very impressive over the Camaro. Ford was up 24 percent this month in sales and I know 2009 was a terrible year for everybody but Ford is on a roll right now. Kudos to the blue oval.

Yo stew next time read my comment before jumping in. I'm talking about the camaro not the mustang. The comment I made was a direct reply to coolman saying he wished the CAMARO had a solid axle. So reading is your friend well maybe not comprehending is your friend.

Ok serious question as I just was reveiwing this thread. So the Camaro weights 3849 and the Mustang weights 3603. Ok here the next thing the Camaro has 426hp and 420tq and the Stang has 412 hp and 390tq. So by doing the math for the Camaro for every 9.035211268 pounds it puts out 1hp and for the Stang for every 8.74515631 pounds it puts out 1hp. Now we can see that the lower number is better but not much better only by .2900549576 of a lb. So that advantage of weight to power everyone likes to talk about is really void considering it isn't even a 1lb advantage hell its not even a half of pound.

So on to the next aspect of the cars. The TQ advantage goes to the camaro. For every 9.164285714 pounds that equal to 1TQ on the camaro. For the stang every 9.238461538 pounds is equal to 1TQ. Once again the low number is better and this time goes to the camaro by .074175824. So that advantage is also void since its not even close to being greater then 1. So in the end the logic thing to conclude here is that neither is faster then the other and in the end it will come down to which hooks up better and who's drag co is better.

My point is why does everyone assume that the Mustang is just going to be faster since it has the lower weight but not the same power ratings. In the end it looks like the cars are each other equals and just by looking at the hard numbers you can see there isn't any real advantage going to one car or the other. Anyone who says otherwise is just being bias because the numbers and solutions to the equations don't lie and tell a story of equal similarity.

If the economy didn't decline maybe GM nor Chrysler would have needed a bailout. See how these "ifs, and, or buts" works? They're pointless to talk about and take away from the focus that Chrysler needs to move forward. In other words, you need to stop talking about excuses and discuss ways on how they can get better in the industry.

Have to agree as well. The only thing I see that could tip the race is gearing. If a Stang or Camaro shows up with 3:75's out back vs stock gears, then I would say it that would sway the outcome more.

Did the Camaro get the rumored package from GM for 2011 with shocks and gears ?

+1

I've smoked guys in my GT500 who drive a Z06. Not because my car is faster but because they suck at driving.

Couldn't have said that better, unless either car has extras on it like what you mentioned its a equal race given all variables are equal. I'm just happy that now when I mess around with people on the streets it will be great fun now that both cars on a equal playing ground. One thing I will say though is that while I believe the Camaro looks better the sound on the Mustang puts the Camaro to shame. Note: everything I'm talking about is stock for stock.

Actually they would have, it just sped up the process.

For years the Big 3 would 'back end' the new lador contracts the UAW demanded. Instead of giving the auto workers big per hour raises, they gave them better heath and retirement benefits. So as their workforce aged, the car makers labor costs went up, yet these workers were retired and thus no longer producing. It was a ticking time bomb. The recession just shortened the fuse.

Keep in mind, the 'Cadillac' health plans Obama is slamming are plans like the ones the UAW workers have. That's why the unions were demanding the proposed tax on them be eliminated.
