Yer killin' me... ALL MAKES in that series are afforded the same mod-leeway.. And they're ALL big-cube monsters, there's no unfair advantage to that car. The point I was making is that you can go damn fast on a skinny tire if the chassis is setup nice. I take back the Mach example (because he won the series), and replace it with the fastest Chevy in the series. Same damn point. |

Earl Wade...engine builder extraordinaire, for Jack Chrisman and Dyno Don, a personal hero of mine (God rest his soul). And a SOHC expert. I think Jon Kaase is the guy you should have spent your wind-blown dollar$ with...he's the BOSS-man...

The Wade engine was done back in the 80's, I bought the car in '97. If I ever lunch the engine, maybe I'll give Kaase a call, or maybe I'll go back stock with Sirdinak.
Runs too good right now to fret about it. |

ZL1 427s...ever heard of CAN-AM? McLAREN??
Check it out... ZL1s were NOT legal for NASCAR...but Grumpy (another dearly departed hero of mine) did rather well with one. You've heard of Grumpy, haven't ya? I mention his recent passing in case you thought I might be that person... |

Why are you trying to argue with me? I wasn't stating that the ZL1 didn't have a super race history crossing different mediums, I was just unravelling your rather unfair dis of the Boss 429... Not to mention that any mistakes Ford made 40+ years ago when street-i-fying that mill for homologation doesn't amount to a hill of beans today...
P.S. Given the absurd cost of the ZL1 option, Chevy didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of moving the minimum 500 copies required for NASCAR... BOY is this thread hi-jacked!! Sorry if I'm to blame!! |

4120 lbs. and 580 hp = 7.10 7.10 divided by 5.77 = 23% So you're bettin' a 23% better time? Or maybe 1% better time? Or maybe 1/2 of 1% better time? Let's phone WYNN'S CASINO and see what YOUR odds are??? |

Well, starting it about what, 2005(?) the 5th gen was "being developed". I'm pretty sure Henry Ford went from development to production on the first car ever quicker than GM did with the "new" Camaro. |

But I'm glad you can at least admit the GT500 has a better ratio. Baby steps. |

Second of all, alloy blocks were/are NEVER/NOT allowed in NASCAR...your comparitor... Third (or, if you're new to the country, "turd"...), the BOSS 9 stock, on the street in '69, was an unmitigated SLUG! Bob Brown, from the East Coast, planned to Super Stock race one...until he got it and, as written in SS&DI back in the day, barely broke 13's stock...on F60s with far more tread than the F70-14s on all ZL1s, save two. Fact. ZL1s, with slicks and headers, ran 11's...Earl Wade only wishes that few mods would have netted THOSE results, way back when... |

Unless the ZL1 can defy the laws of physics, it's going to get owned on the strip. Stop denying it. |

I've never seen a car that's out-gunned by that much in the hp/weight ratio ever overcome that... But we shall soon see, won't we? You would have to load 900 pounds of ballast into the 2013 Shelby in order to even-up the power/weight ratios. Just imagine heading out to test and tune, and three fat-ass 300 lb guys ask you if they can "ride along" down the track... That's the dilemma the Camaro faces, magnetic fluid and software helping best it can... |
