The skip shift is a simple fix that won't void any warranties. You can just unplug it and put the wiring back the way it was. To disable AFM requires a tune. I bought the skip shift plug but have yet to crawl under the car to install it. It's only slightly annoying, if it kicks in I usually throw it into 3rd and it's fine. The other way to avoid it is get out of 1st gear quicker or step on the gas more. I drove the Camaro to work today and drive 11 miles through city type driving. It only kicked in twice and that was because I was creeping in first gear with slow traffic which then started to move.

I don't have an auto, but I think the AFM is a problem when you make mods to the engine and exhaust. When it kicks into the 4 cyl mode people complain about the sound. Definitely research it on the forum, lot's of info about it.

Price was the reason I went with the 1LT (would have gone with the LS if I could have gotten the electronic options I like on it), but when you talk about 400hp instead of 300, or 650 instead of 400, I have to ask, where is that much power really necessary? Do most SS owners race their cars? I can't think of anywhere else you could really use all that extra juice without facing arrest.

If you have to ask, you'll never get it.

Ive had both the v6 and now the v8. My v6 was stick and the SS is automatic and it is still a funner car by all means.

Unless GM changed the requirement from 2010.............premium gas (91 - 93 octaine) is recommended but you can use 87 or 89 octane at a performance cost....meaning, your SS will not be at its optimum engine performance capacity with the lower octanes. Motortrend recently tested the SS convertible and were pleased enough with the performance and MPG with 87 octane.

It's not necessary, we could all drive prius's, but 400+ hp is a lot of fun. I use the power every chance I get, and it's FUN!!!!

(I don't drive like a jerk and have yet to be arrested)

Really, it only costs $5 or less to fill up with premium vs. the cheap stuff. Seems every thing I own requires premium fuel, wife's beemer, Mustang GT, Camaro... Then there is the diesel truck. You can start complaining about fuel when the pump shuts off at $100 and the tank still is not topped off. But if you ask me, they are all worth the extra cost.

I just test drove a 370Z and the way it feels compared to my 03' 350Z was insane. It's only about 50 something extra horsepower too.

P.S. It's not always about using the power, it's mostly being able to say you have it, and being faster/as fast as 90% of cars that you see on the roads.

i have also test drove one, and also have a friend who has one. you can feel more power in the SS, because of all the torque. but over all the 370z feels fast. and its for sure a funner car to drive. the car much lighter, interior feels more sporty, everything from the gauges to the way the car revs, and i love the two seats. the car sits lower also. i just dont understand why we dont see more 370zs on the road, is such a great car....

370z= full blooded sports car
SS= pure muscle car.

Honestly it felt like it was faster but in a different way. I got sucked back into the seat and it felt like you were going way faster than you actually are. It's probably the weight difference that makes up for the obvious lack of torque. It's very composed in corners though. I love it. The Camaro for sure feels great but the Z just feels so incredibly civilized and Mike we probably don't see that many because most people just buy based on power not feel. The Z competes with the Camaro and I'm certain it could at least keep up with an M3 around a track. The oil cooler (or lack there of) is its biggest downfall but the whole car for the most part makes up for that.
