20 hp at redline will not make a car 3/10 quicker, especially in a car that weighs 100 lbs more. I'm thinking 0.1 faster to 60, 0.2 in the 1/4 maybe. In anything other than a straight line, it should win against the Camaro. It was already close with the regular one and would have depended on track layout. Also, that car will not be driver friendly. I read how much they stiffened the already rough riding (from what I heard anyway) 370Z. It will be a pretty bone jarring ride. I think it looks a bit better than the standard 370Z but that isn't saying too much.
However ... price wise the Nismo will be sitting between a 1SS and a base Corvette though still probably closer to the Camaro unless you start including incentives and rebates on the 'vette (which isn't "fair" in my opinion)

Overall performance?
The Z..NO question about it. The Z will run circles around the Camaro/Challenger/Mustang on the track and thats just the honest truth. I own one and the handling is unreal....but it rides very hard. |

I drove one and wasn't impressed with the handling. It was OK, but it wasn't like "OMG this is UNREAL". I'm sure it will outhandle many cars on the track, but driving it, it didn't feel that special. It did ride about as rough as my brothers Audi TT though.

Ok....I take back "unreal"(Too subjective...lol).
It will outhandle any stock muscle car track or street with no problem. I dont know how hard you pushed it when you drove it, but I pushed mine hard and it was better than Ok thats for sure....in fact it was awesome After all its a sports car not a muscle car Last edited by HEMI DAVE; 04-08-2009 at 03:32 PM. |

Even IF the Z beats the SS in every performance categories I'll still buy a Camaro.

same!!! The only thing is though, 370z has way better handling then 350 stock and nismo 370z will probably have over 1 g of grip and be able to run slaloms at like an unreal 73 mph!! Performance wise I think it will romp stock camaro. But it you wannna build the engine you are gonna have some real fun trying to get power out of it like you can ls3. Hahaha what if there was an ls3 nissan z. Like a 620z hahahah!

Not a fan of the 370, although i loved the 350.
If I had the money I'd get a Nismo only after I had my Camaro. |

I was in the market for both the Camaro SS and 370z... I built a base 370z with the Sport Package and navigation package and the price was at 42k... the Nismo will be, after all options considered around 44-45k...
I love the interior on the 370z a lot better, but the Camaro, overall, is my pick. And I have heard bad things about the quality of Nissans. Not sure I would want that kind of trouble when spending over 42k.

Hmmm idk it will come close. Regular 370 did 13.3 in some tests. With 20 more hp and recalibrated ecu it might come close. It has grippier tires 2.
