Camaro is coming whether or not GM goes bankrupt or not.

How can you say that? There is no promise of that and GM head say there is no Chapter 11 for it. That is what he told Congress bailout or Chapter 7.

He may have told congress that to help in his quest for bailout/loan money. In the end I think if congress will do nothing to help GM that they will file for reorganization. Reorganization is better than closing your doors.

Camaro is coming....it has to come.

earlier in the year, when the Camaro was introduced to the press, GM's stock went up 6 points that day... GM is not going to stop the Camaro... they NEED the Camaro and one of the reasons they're in the pickle they are in right now is because they chose to develope the trucks before the cars... and it bit them in the a$$.

GM's cars are going to make it into production... the Volt, Cruze and Camaro will be on sale shortly... buy stock now, because it'll be going up soon.

The problem is even in chapter 11 they probably will not make it. They have NO MONEY and the banks will not loan them money to get thru chapter 11. If the credit crysis was not here it would be different. But if you can not pay an employee he/she will not work for free. No work, no cars, no income.

If congress was smart they would say all of you file chapter 11 on Monday. We will then give you the money to live thru your reorganization. But the have nothing from congress saying that they would do that.

Exactly, Congress basically said no today, and with the session ending tomorrow, it looks very unlikely that any aid will come. In addition, the threat was not of chapter 11, it was of total liquidation. Total liquidation equals no Camaro

I hate to sound pessimistic, but if there's no money to pay vendors, how's that going to happen?

Worried...I am looking for a daily driver not a show car/collector car that some- maybe most on this list?- can afford. I am excited about this car not the name/nostalgia...

The longer this drags out, the less worried I become.

We still know nothing... if you want to believe that Congress has said "no, and thats final", than go right ahead.

They have declined to tap the $700 billion financial bailout. Last I heard, they might be meeting again in an emergency session to vote on speeding up the original $25 billion retooling loan, and re-wording the original loan.

Either way, there has been enough attention "finally" brought forth, that there are several other possibilities. We should also be re-assured that this is a top priority.

Don't forget that the $700 billion bailout took almost 3 weeks to get hammered out.

I believe we will see our Camaros. If production was starting next week, then I would be worried.

My hope is that the Feds are planning on aiding GM, it's in the worst shape, AFTER GM files Chapter 11 and reorganizes. Right now, GM has no "business plan" for what they would do differently in the U.S. if the government came through. I think that, in particular, is why there is little support from the government. If they had shown up with a well-thought out plan, then perhaps the outcome would be a little different.
