Ok, lets say most r/ts are mid/high 13s for arguments sake, from what I am seeing your average V6 is mid/high 14s, and SSes low/mid 13s. not counting hero runs, so from what I am seeing the difference is more than people here think, not less than what other people think. I am not saying the V6 is slow, it's not for what it is but I se threads pitting it agaisnt Challenger R/Ts, Evos, etc, and those are just punching above it's weight.

Depends. From what I've read, I'd say stock V6s are more like low/mid 14s. The thing is, you could do a few mods and maybe be a few tenths slower than a stock R/T, but for less money. IMO, if someone is going to spend the money for the R/T, they might as well just get a SS camaro--it's similar in price. That would make the most sense, performance wise. Looks wise, I guess it depends on personal pref.

The guy I'm seeing has an automatic Charger R/T.... It's pretty. I'm not a fan of the way the Challengers look, honestly

Not what I am seeing, here is the fast list from this site.

Bone Stock (No external or internal engine modifications, stock tires):
1. 14.370 @ 96.64 - DarkneSS - 1/LT RS M6
2. 14.408 @ 94.24 - Wikedwil - LS A6
3. 14.440 @ 95.51 - HDRS - LS M6
4. 14.752 @ 94.35 - JasonK - 1LT A6
5. 14.829 @ 95.99 - 02pewtersix - 1LT M6
6. 14.834 @ 94.14 - PittPaz - 1LT/RS A6
7. 14.860 @ 93.29 - BaylorAirForce - 2LT/RS A6
8. 14.942 @ 95.07 - MyWorld - 2LT/RS M6
9. 14.986 @ 93.95 - chuckstacamaro - LS A6
10. 14.9982 @ 92.98 -DMDTexAg06 - 1LT/RS A6

Average this out and you have a 14.7 average for the supposed 10 quickest V6s. I guarantee if you took the top ten R/Ts the average would be at LEAST a second better. I mentioned 2 R/ts that have hit 13.2 owned by the same person and are BONE STOCK, that is just 2, that have hit low 13s. Yes, you can get an SS, but even a 1SS runs 1850 more than a Base R/T (1SS starts at 31850 and the R/T starts at 29,995) and if you are going automatic, the 2 cars are in a dead heat statistically, and the Challenger would still be cheaper. Using your mod a V6 and be close, you could get an R/Tand use that 1500 you saved over the SS and get tune/cai, exhaust and be in the 12s with no problem. Also it is very possible to get a V6 to be more expensive than an R/T (or SS for that matter). The R/T is a considerably quicker car than the V6. The best bang for the buck, if you want to go there, is the 5.0 mustang GT which starts at 29310. All prices are for 12 models and do not include destination FYI

A lot of those times seem pretty high to me? If you start w/an LS and do some mods, it wouldn't be that much slower than an R/T, but it would be significantly cheaper. Sure, the R/Ts start at 30K, but good luck getting one for that. I'm sure the ones with options can run a lot more. I'm not saying the V6 is going to blow away an R/T, but I don't think they're a whole second faster either. Where is the R/T fast list?

Actualy you could get one a lot cheaper than that, right now 11s for example have a $2k rebate and lots of wiggle room. Designwise the Challenger is the oldest of the 3 ponies right now.

I say get it.

I can't get over the pic in the first post. To me there is no comparison. Your camaro is simply awesome.

So if it was my choice, I would only have 2 options. Make what I have go faster (say NOS, or FI), or trade it in for an SS.

But seems that you have a different option because you actually like the Dodge, so do that.

countless articles have the camaro and mustang battling it out for 1st and 2nd, while the challenger is a very far away third. I think now they just leave it out and when new models come out, the challenger isnt even in the equation.

Plus, all the dodges Ive ever been involved with have had more problems from the factory than anything else, may be diff with newer ones, but I dont trust em

My Mopars have ben the most reliable I have had (Had a few Fords, GMs, and Chrysler products) That said, when the tested the 10 SRT8 vs the 10 SS and the 11 GT, the SS brought up the rear, same with the 11 Challenger V6 vs the Camaro V6 (new 3.6), Challenger was 3rd, Camaro 4th. In consumer reports latest reliability study at least Chrysler and jeep finished well ahead of Chevy, if not they were real close.
