This is why I have been trying to find a magnetic drain plug (no success yet). I am sure there is still a bunch left in the oil pan as well. I will be putting a filter magnet in place before it leaves the dealership with RP break in oil in it.

it always helps to have a couple powerfull small magnets, one the tip of the oil filter, one on the oil pan near the drain plug, and near the tranny drain plug. and just remove the magnets when draining the oil so all the particles the magnets pick up go out with the oil.

That is a great idea, borderline genius. I am doing that and going to 1000 miles and again at 3000.

Or you might be able to just magnetize the entire drain plug by rubbing a strong magnet over it in one direction many times.

I did that with my 91 S10 cuz I was a teenager and broke

Musta helped, sold it to a guy and he as 400k on it now and the only thing that has been replaced is the water pump. Friggin' 4.3s are tough

It does not have the Camaro yet, but I'm sure GM didn't experiment with a new drain bolt on this Camaro. Probably left over stuff from previous models.

I made a comment about the same thing after I seen all the metal floating and after I opened up the oil filter.

I dont think magnetic drain plugs would help too much as the entire block is aluminum and 99% of the metal wear is non magnetic.

Guess a wave of a magnet in the oil drain pan would tell you if a magnetic drain bolt would help.

It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
