tire plugging OK ?

Real quick question, Is plugging a tire good fix ?

The screw I picked up is right on the tread in the middle of the tire.

Does a plug compromise the structural intergrity of the tire or throw off the balance ?

Probably will not cause any problems.... However if you smoke em you may pull the plug out... I am guessing

Tire plugging is a temporary fix only meant to last you 1-2 days till you can get it fixed properly. Do not rely on a plug to permanently fix the hole as they can and will come out eventually.

I used to have to plug numerous truck tires every week at my last job. They were constantly picking up nails and screws from construction sites. Now about it coming out when roasting them.... I wouldn't know anything about that on the work trucks

they are more then temp fixes. Ive had them just about on every car ive ever had. Sure with roasting the rear tires it might be an issue. I got one on my diesel now thats been there a year with towing, winter, etc. No issues. Whats the worst thing that can happen you get another flat. These kind of tires usually dont last that long anyways. plug is and wait till you get a new tire.. Ive never heard a mechanic say get a new tire in 2-3 days after using one

I have had many tires "plugged" over the years, continuing to drive them normally for many thousands of miles until the tire wore out and was replaced. I noticed no ill effects or performance isues from plugging the tires, nor have I ever had one come out.

Plug it, keep an eye on your tire pressure in case you didn't get a complete seal, but otherwise forget about it.

If you have multiple plugs in a single tire it can throw off the balance. I've had it happen, but never with only 1.

Tire plugging sucks... why ream the hole out and make it bigger... nothing replaces a gold old patch on the inside...

Then once you've reamed the hole out where you can see daylight through it you drive on it for a couple of years and the plug wears down with the tire tread and starts to eventually leak... I know I'll get flammed from those who have never had problems so let it fly.

Plug is just a lazy way to temp fix a tire... only worth it if you're stuck on the side of the road in a Camaro SS... JMHO

i even noticed after a while and the heat thats generated from driving the plug almost fuses with the tire. I hve had plugs where you cant even tell where the plug went. I think a good rule of thumb though is within one inch of the sidewall or on the sidewall you should get a new tire

The 2SS can go 155 MPH. The only way to fix a leak on a high performance tire is a proper repair from the inside. Check with a Michelin dealer.

these are 30,000mi tires and in reality only last 20 so if its a daily driver your getting new tires every other year anyways. Multiple plugs sure. But my self or anybody i have ever know has never had an issue.
