Picked up New 1LT RS Manual 6 spd Today...
Couldn't wait any longer and located a 6 spd. manual LT at my local dealer that I bought my Tahoe from just a few miles away.
$600 off MSRP. Dealers may be starting to deal. Black/Black 1LT RS 6 spd. Manual with Boston...looks like I'm gonna need to change my signature and avatar! |

I had rented a 1LT this past week on a business trip in Providence and liked the cloth seats fine, so I figured save the $ and go 1LT. I like them. They are comfortable shaped and feel cool in the heat.
Haven't had cloth in quite some time (since my 1995 GMC Sonoma pickup that I kept for several years). Kids are getting bigger and more responsible, so leather not mandatory. Yes, I am the guy also doing the project car. Insurance co. initially rejected my offer, now they are mulling again. I will likely still do that car (provided the insurance co. accepts my offer) and then re-sell for that kind of deal's $. More on that project later. I hope to get this new car up on my lift tomorrow and snap some more underbody pics....boat is in the way so I will have to play musical toys to get pics. House starting to look like a used car lot... Also want to get pics with my Z. -CKB |

Initial impressions:
1) The paint is very good on this car. 2) The Aisin's 6 speed shifting is a bit notchy, especially goinig into 4th and reverse, but it should get better as it loosens up with use and I get used to it more. 3) I didn't know there was a "R" indication in the DIC when put into reverse accompanied by a beep. Does the SS with the Tremec T56 do this also? Again the Aisin is a bit tricky to get into reverse...you really have to man-handle it over against the tension spring to get it past the 1-2 gate and up into R... 4) BA sound system is solid 5) No fan noise that I had noticed on the previous 2 Avis rentals...yet. 6) Dealership really goes out of their way these days to clearly state that warranty is manufacturer's defects only...still bumper to bumper, but sounds like another layer of the onion to get approval on any perceived "abuse" repairs. The reverse in the LT is kinda like the old school Muncie 4-speeds. Both are up and to the left.
In my 4-speed car, you need to smack it hard when pulling it to to reverse. It's the exact same motion in the LT. You'll get used to it!

Gratzz it's awesome. On the fan noise.. the rentals where auto's so they have the AT cooler is integrated into the radiator. The fan was probably on more because it heats up the coolant as it runs thru a small copper cooling sleeve that sits inside the passener side compartment of the radiator. The manual does not have that extra heat going into the radiator. The fans however should be the same.

Sorry, to clarify on the fan noise...I was referring to the HVAC blower, not rad.
Interesting to know on the auto vs. manual rad fan tho. |

Playing with the Camaro database, there are only seven (7) 1LT, RS, M6 Black/Black R6P cars built to date, none with this particular combination of Boston w/o Convenience & Connectivity & MSRP.
