1000 Hp
Hey guys. I have a v6 with extended warranty based on years or miles. I was hoping to do an engine swap for insurance reasons, and because I could not afford the v8 at the time. I called one dealership, and I was told that I could only get a LS3 put in. If there changes done for a v8 engine, I do not understand how there is a limit to what kind of engine I can put in, unless it is an issue in physical size. The guy told me that it is only possible with a crate engine, but LS3 crate engines are no longer created by GM. My hopes is to put money toward getting 1000 hp one day. I mean, hey, I am addicted to speed, but that is not the point, the point is....well, maybe 1000 might be excessive, but not if you are randomly at a track, and someone wants to race for pinks, and I have an ls badge(no badge for you who think I don't know what I am saying).
To clear up I want 1000 hp. Why do I want to do a v8 swap through the dealer? To retain ext warranty while having the increase in speed. What is my question about 1000 hp? I thought only Hennessy had a 1000 tune for the car, with it own small little(excessive exageration using two synonym adjectives together) 1 year /12k mi warranty. I have noticed vids of 1000 hp camaros, which were not from Hennessy. Just to be sure I want to pose this question: How hard is it to tune up the camaro to 1000hp? And will it definitely be over 50k in parts and labor? If any performance company can make the camaro 1000 hp, then isn't it true that other cars can get that same boost? and if other cars can get that same boost, 1000hp is no excessive because you never know what you might meet on the road right?

GM does not cover added power, period.
Have Adam at ADM Performance build you a motor. |

For 1000hp you are going to need to upgrade or replace nearly everything in the drive/powertrain.
And to answer your question. Yes it can be done. All it takes is money. |

so....you want a 1000hp car to look like a LS V6 for insurance reasons, like a rocket engine in a Pruis Hybrid so that you can 'appear' green?
kinda see your point, but why not go w/ twin turbos in the V6('only' 500+ horses..)..seems pointless to spend all that $ just to save insurance. If warranty is your concern, you might as well step up to an AM Camaro(SLP, Hennesy, etc..), not sure if GM will sells factory superchargers for the SS(Z28 maybe). |

I would engine swap the z28, but would it fit after alterations to the v6?

u will never get there with a v6 obviously. switch to a v8? well it works, but you will have to change just about everything. I have 717 HP in my SS, and I am pushing the limits of what the motor will handle with it's internal parts. you will have to have the entire bottom end forged. while the LS3 is a wonderful motor, the pistons and what not are not ready for that kind of power. not to mention the axles/rear end/tranny etc. you will end up breaking your car in half.

I can't imagine doing an engine swap will have any warranty at all. Just because it's a GM part doesn't mean you can keep your warranty. I could be wrong, but that's what I think. Be a better idea in the long run to trade up to an SS.
