The mustang has been refreshed twice since the Camaro came out. 2010 , 2013. Actually the Camaro has been out over 3 years ( March 2009 - June 2012 ), that spans 3 model years 2010-2012

That don't mean anything, does it mean Chevy was shooting for the AMG Mercedes with the SS just because TOP GEAR did a comparison? Flawed logic you have there. Magazines and TV shows don't determine who the competition is. The buying public does.

Not sure of the Margin on a Camaro but the Mustang has one of the healthiest margins in the industry.

dude..you are trying to create an argument. if you go back you will see where I said performance dosen't determine sales

The Mustang/Ford just does a better job advertising, which will equate to better sales sooner or later. Plus the new Mustang coming out isn't working matters.

I have a Camaro because I just love these cars. But the Mustang does look better in the Vert version then the Camaro. That might explain some of the jump in sales with Summer coming on.

Wow, this thread is getting heated! I personally like the Camaro better but that's just one opinion. I have a good friend with the Mustang GT vert and I like it as well. I think they are both great cars. No reason to argue about it. It's personal preference in my opinion.

I believe part of the problem is the v6 performance! Even though the camaro is a way better looking car I think id rather have a 13.9 sec v6 Stang over a v6 Camaro.

v6 Camaro < mustang v6 <Mustang 5.0<Must Laguna Seca<Dodge Challanger<Camaro SS<gt500<zl1camaro -my order of choice

Not everyone cares about performance in V6 models. In fact i bet most people buying the V6 did not buy it for performance. Even though the performance of my V6 is everything i want or need.

I dont think anyone bought the base camaro for its performance
sorry but a pony car should be about performance , Theres no excuse for the Camaro not being able to run 13s. Im sorry but I love the camaro but every car I have owned has had a v8 in it

Its my opion that if the v6 camaro ran 13.5@105 and got 30 mpg then they would have a really cool car and would sell allot more! Believe me thats should be the nexts platforms goal. Less weight and more power !
My Truck ran 13.6@103 with me driving stock!

66 cutlass 330 Hp v8 first car
1986 mustang gt second car
1994 z28 6 speed 355 procharged lt4 642 rwhp ,,3rd car
2001 Lightning Present

Oh and....
When I was a kid my dad owned a 65 stang with Manual Transmission. and a beautiful Black 1958 Chevy Impalla
I learned to drive in a 1970 chevy wagon so dont call me a Ford guy

Well that may be your opinion, and I never called you a ford guy. But in reality the V6 is the bread and butter of both the mustang and Camaro. If they didn't exist more than likely either platform would not exist for long. By the way the original purpose of the pony car was a secretary's car. The mustang was not originally designed to be a performance car.

One big factor in the jump in Mustang sales could be the fact that Ford quit taking orders for 2012 Mustangs in December. All orders since December have been for the 2013 model, so if people didn't find what they wanted on a lot, they had to wait.
