I fried my body control module!!!

I recently brought my ZL1 to the dealer cause my headlights wouldn't come on at night. After 2 days they tell me my body control module got fried!! They blamed it on my LED fogs and DTR lights so they replaced with stock bulbs and now they tell me if I had the stock front side marker lights bulbs and I said no why and they said that I have LED bulbs in them and they would have to replace to stock bulbs so it doesn't fry my new module. I told them I bought the Camaro new and I never touched the front side marker lights. Do the ZL1 come with LED front side marker lights factory?

LED lights use considerably less power than "standard" bulbs. Unless the stock bulbs are LED and your replacements are LED's that use more power I find that hard to believe.

That's what I told the service writer. Sounds fishy to me.

Your dealer is an idiot, try to find another service department.

Exactly. They take like a 6th of the power as regular incandescent bulb. I just put my LED sidemarkers in last night. The bulbs are definitely regular and not LED from the factory.

THE BCM is a computer. It is not having any heavy electrical load put on it. It just tells things to come one and go off, windows to index and some other stuff on the car.

I think I spent nearly every Friday and Saturday night back in college frying MY body control module.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Good luck with your fix, and blaming the LEDs sounds fishy to me, too, unless some wiring had to be modded and could've caused a short.

What other changes have you made? Footwell lighting or anything like that? The LEDs are not going to fry your BCM, but a short somewhere will.

I didn't know that footwell was factory. I thought the dealer added it. If they used vampire clamps to tap into the gray wire (dome light) under the dash that can be a problem

Soooooooo many people have lighting mods on these cars and I've never heard of the mods causing any issues, I would tend agree with Happy Dan that there may be a wiring issue.
