Thumbs up There is a time NOT to push your luck!!

To help up my sister tonight I drove my nephew up to his Dad. The trip up there went without a hitch. On the way back wasn't much like it. On the route I have to go over a 15 mile bridge. Well I was on "E" before the bridge. I know there was a gas station before getting on the bridge but I decided to push my luck. So half way across the bridge I ran out of gas!! Before losing steering power I got in the emergency lane. I turned on my emergency blinkers on and contacted Onstar.

I told Onstar that I ran out of gas!! They transferred me over to the Roadside Service. I was then on hold for a long time!! I hung up and called the 1-800 number myself!! Gave them my info and was told they'll get someone out there. The first company contacted me to say they could not do it since I was on the bridge and only emergency vehicles are allowed. So I called back to the Roadside Service and told them the first company couldn't do it. So they contacted the second company. That company told me it would take 90 minutes til they can get to me!!

While I was going back and forth with Roadside Service a Highway Patrol officer parked behind with his lights on to assist me. I told he I had someone coming. He told me that he has a gas container and he can take me to get gas. So I called the second company to cancel the call. After the call the Officer took me to a gas station to get gas. Got the gas and we headed back. When we got back I put the gas in the Camaro and thanked him for helping me out. I made a beeline back to the gas station and filled up!!

So next time I am not pushing my luck with an empty tank and a long bridge to cross.

This. It was like, subconciously, i could not help but read it that way. It actually irritated me to the point where i felt as if i needed to post.

I feel like if i met the OP, they would be an annoying 16 year old blonde girl that talk extremely loud and is always excited about everything she says. Id prolly strangle them if we met in person.

JESUS CHRIST, please learn some correct punctuation!

Well you learned a valuable lesson. I almost ran out of gas once. After that I never chanced it again. You have to look at it this way 5 mins at a gas station to fill up or a waiting an hour for a tow truck and complete humiliation.

I didn't read any bitching really but yes, running out of gas on a 7 mile bridge when you CHOSE to press your luck... the cop should have made him walk back to the station then carry the can back to the car.... following him with lights on for safety ans so people notice and don't ever decide to press their luck.

The best punishment is making someone do unnecessary work and embarassment. This cop gave him a free-bie!

OMG!!!!! The punctuation police are out in force!!!!! The way it sounds, you could have walked to the gas station, bought a gas can, and walked back before Onstar help arrived!!!!!
(read in rillyrilly fast, rillyrilly high-pitched caligirl voice!!!!)
