I see where you're coming from, but I think convertibles do work on muscle cars. Its just part of the image. I think it works for sports cars, muscle cars, and small sport sedans, but doesn't work on larger cars that aren't muscle cars or anything FWD.

Milk, I really did think it was still up in the air as to whether or not the convertibles were going to get made. But, I'm glad to know that I am wrong, and that you've heard differently!!!

Personally im a t-top kinda guy if i had my choice but since they are not offering that the moonroof is fine too. Rag tops dont appeal to me at all . If i lived in california i can see the appel but i lve in canada so makes it that much less useful. Also hate the fact some looser can pull out a 5 dollar pocket knife and steal your car or stuff inside so no thanks.

I hate convertibles - a couple of my friends have had them - after 10 years they start breaking - mechanical problems. Cost more for insurance. Not as safe down track (or anywhere for that matter)

And I beleive someone arleady mentioned - convertibles are for chicks!

only exception - convertible dodge viper - I love that car!

Wrong about convertibles being FOR chicks.. They ATTRACT Chicks.. Give a woman the choice between a guy with a 500HP muscel car coupe and one with a V6 Convertible and I bet the majority of the time they will chose the convertible...

I am not waiting for one because.
1. I already have a Convertible (Sky)
2. In today's economy and the situation with GM who knows if the convertible may be canceled...

We already have three convertibles that we don't drive enough.

I prefer coupes, but have always had t-tops. In a way I wish they offered a T-top version of the Camaro, but in another way they tend to look pretty dated and even gawdy.

My main reasons for not buying a convertable were several:

- Here in Montreal, fabic covers on convertables are slashed all the time. It's a real shame to see a brand new car with tape covering some idiot's chop. Sometimes these people cut open the tops to steal belongings out of the car but I think alot of kids just do it for fun.

- Convertables seem to age very badly. The cloth tops fade quickly, and stains seem very tough to remove.

- Not sure, but I heard that a car's frame is weaker without a hard top, so they sometimes have to add extra support such as cross beams to the under chassis of the car. I don't know if this is true or not but it sounds reasonable to me. Apperently, some owners of 90's firebird owners say they think they feel their frames "twist" when taking hard turns. Sounds like BS, but also sounds plausible to me.

I have a different reason, I dont like the body lines when its down. Old convertibles used to have nice flowing lines without the top, but I have noticed on GM convertibles of late, specifically the G6 and spy shots of the camaro convert, that there is a small raised body line near where the base of the roof would be when the top is down. It just seems like it should be about an inch lower. I can't find the pics, but if you find them, or look at a G6 convert, look around the base of where the C-pillar would be if it were a coupe and you will see what I am talking about.

When I started to look at ordering a 2010 Camaro I had decided to order one as close as I could to the other two that I had owned. Both of those were 74' Type LT Coupes.

I don't like the look of convertibles. Soft tops anyways, if they offered a hard top convertible I might think about it. But from what I heard, that' ain't gonna happen any time soon
