SS Build - Custom Cam & D1 Procharger! 632 hp/ 548 tq! On 8 psi

As many of the new 5th gen chassis's have been rolling through the shop, there stands one client who wants to really start to push the envelope on the stock LS3!

Clients goals were pretty simple - Maintain similar to stock driving characteristics, engineer a power package that will make over 600-625 wheel hp to the tire!

We decided to go with a Prochrager D1SC tuner kit to boost the out put, with a 8lb pulley! A full stainless works 1 7/8th" primary long tube to cat back exhaust, custom ground camshaft to our specifications done by comp cams, off course with supporting modifications, valve springs, C5R timing chain, ect.

Follow this link as we complete the project! http://www.ipsmotorsports.net/articl...articles_id=11

We will have a lot of photos as we continue to make progress, and hope to be completed and tuned in under 2 weeks, and hitting the 10's the next day!

If any one has any questions about this build, the products used and why, or general tech, feel free! We have many methods of contact, via our live help online or the shop phone line! Our information is here!

And a quick snap shot!

Regards
-Brandon & Team IPS

I'm also going for the D1 procharger tuner kit with full 3"exhaust and LT Kooks headers. I hope to be around 550-570 whp. Can't wait to see what numbers you guys get!

Video and dyno graphs will be coming shortly, should have some nice in car videos as well with our go pro suction mounted cameras!

We completed this build in approximately 10 business days, start to finish, due to some wait on getting the wrong head unit for the pro charger kit.

The car did very well with the cam, and we are pleased to see the results with just 8 lbs or boost.

I am working on a video of the car, and some track video after this Friday!

A few things to take away from this project that we noticed, and we are going to make some improvements on with this customer.
1). Stock drive shaft coupled to the rear diff with three bolts... Bad design, and not meant to be drag raced with over 500 horsepower. We already have a drive shaft made , and are working on production pieces.
2). The procharger system is very nice, and fits perfect, but the intake seems to a slight restriction after dynoing with and without, there was a nice gain in power with out, so maybe a more efficient filter for the d1sc systems.
3). The intercooler was just about to threshold, we were above +20 of abient, and approacing 140 degree air intake temperatures, which was really hurting the power, meth obviously would have helped, but a slightly larger intercooler could have easily been used. This was only at 8psi as well, so obviously going higher you may want to think about a larger intercooler core, or meth, we are designing a new core in CAD currently and should have a nice add on option for those interested.
4). Get some rubber! This car just burns the tires!

Overall this is a very easy way to get over 600 wheel horsepower, and maintain perfect street manners, and reliability. Thanks for taking a look, and if you have any questions feel free, happy to answer

have you thought of relocating the air filter? it may be seeing those high temps due to the headers being a few inches away.

I do know what your saying, and we thought about it, the issue is mainly the orientation of the blower inlet, makes it more difficult to move the intake, actually its very difficult to create a solution.

You can see that here

I wonder if the vortech intake will bolt up to this!

So, with a larger intercooler, more boost and a bigger/better intake this baby could make more horses?!? That is insane. If you guys do any of the changes you have posted, please post them up! I would like to to see the results.

We are going to test out the intercooler theory because we are developing a much better core for this horsepower range on our turbo system we are currently developing.

We know just bringing the AIT down will allow more timing to produce a little more horsepower and be less stress full on the engine as well.

And the vortech inlet is awesome, I just checked it out, I would like to see how it flows, and I am sure they have great data!

Overall we are happy thought, after all we are making the numbers out of 8 psi on a D1 that others are seeing with 10 psi! So we have designed a nice cam profile, that is very street able!
