Scary CAMARO drive today.. be careful

Nice sunny day........

Took the 2010 out today and right away knew something was different.
At first it felt like a wheel was about to fall off.

The faster I went the worse it got. Soon felt like I was driving on marbles on the road. Car became hard to keep in the lane. IRS was all over the place.

No noise, but hard to keep to keep it where you aimed it.

Looked at the outside temp. 8 C on display.

These summer only tires are no good on cold asphalt.

Get them off if you plan on driving or you may be found at fault if your in a accident in these more northern climates.

Perhaps it was something else, I've driven mine in 4C and have had no problems with handling.

Did it at least change for the better once the tires warmed up?

The performance tires only work as designed once they warm up....I experienced the same thing driving up and back to the Oshawa meet, especially on the mornings when there was frost on the ground.

Just be careful to properly warm the tires up!! Nothing a good long burnout in front of your neighbors house won't fix!! (Plus they will love you for it!)

I have noticed it as well. We've had a couple of 35F mornings this past week, and I did notice a difference in handling. No, it doesn't always want to go where you want it to go.

My tires were delivered yesterday. They're going on tomorrow. I'm in southwest Oklahoma, but we never know how our winters are going to be.

Although mine is parked for the winter, I drove it in the monrning twice at 2degrees. Although I was very carefull and heeded the ice warning from DIC.

Had a similar experience in the summer tires in Vancouver the first major day of rain we had.

Literally shifted me into the next lane sideways.. Same marble like feeling going over a spot that had recent construction done on it... Was not going fast, (not even doing the limit due to traffic) luckily nobody was in the next lane.

(Damn all the olympics construction)

Summers = not meant for Raincouver.

Coldest it has been here was the morning we went to Hocking Hills and it was about 30 on the DIC. No issues at all in the car, only problem was the ice warning coming on every few minutes... yea, I got it, thanks!

The funny thing is, I'd give anything for some colder weather .... A drop of 15 - 20 degrees would be great ..... It would be nice to open the windows and turn the A/C off for a while ..... The $500 a month for electric gets a little old after 8 months ....
