License Plates

Hey guys, this may seem like an inane post but i noticed that on all the pictures i've seen of actual productions models, there are no license plate slots in the front of the car. I ask because i live in New York and i believe we are required to display two license plates in both the front and the back ?

Thoughts ? Comments? Derogatory re marks ?

They will add it on unless you tell them not to. And it looks fugly.

Also, HeatherR's red one had the front plate, if I recall correctly...

There is a thread on this somewhere.
The disscussion Was where to mount the plate as well as how to.
I am in NJ assume that the local dealer will have a kit that will be added to all cars in that state to the front Bumper.

I am getting mine in PA (No front plate)

there are a few After market Optons out there for a Flip out Plate.
Manual or Power (I like the Power option) They are from known After market Companies.

I live in Minnesota where the front license plate is required, I told my dealer that if the front bracket was on the car I would refuse to buy it, they said they have no problem leaving it off. As far as the police go, they usually won't give out tickets for it unless you are doing something else wrong

Hopefully your dealer will just hand you the installation brackets...then you can choose how best to place it, if at all. In Texas we are required to have front plates. I don't see any vettes with them. I will certainly make it a point to tell my dealer not to think about drilling any holes anywhere.

Tell your dealer to order the mount and not install it. That way you will have it. Otherwise you might not get one at all.

This is interesting; I have not thought about this yet.

I live in California, but I have been driving in my current car for years without a front plate. I am not sure if you are required to have a front and back plate on this car though.

I like the look of the car without the front plate. I think the front plate is like a huge eye sore. It detracts from the lines of the car while attracting attention to itself. And God, I hope my dealership doesn't drill holes for the mounting bracket.

Oh well, we will see.

same here. live in TX. drove a Crossfire for 3+ yrs with no front plate. never got stopped or questioned...even driving about 110mph to the airport one evening.

won't have one on my camaro, either...however, will carry the front plate in the trunk.

I like that idea. But I can see a high risk of it getting scraped up.

I live in NYC and told my dealer not to install the front bracket. I want to see how long I can get away with it. I can live with getting ticketed once in a while. If it becomes more frequent, then I'll probably just give in and install it.
