You must mean you paid that for the COMPLETE center section?

I'm having the work done sometime next week. I ordered all the parts last week so they've been trickling into the shop this week. From everything I've read on the subject lowering the final drive ratio is one of the most rewarding mods in terms of bang for buck. Compare it to a turbo/supercharger kit and its pretty reasonable. One of the older guys in my Camaro club (Camaros of east texas) swears that this mod truly "brings the car to life". As fun as the car is to drive stock I'm excited to see how this will feel.

Will be putting 6th gear to good use on my long trips home to GA from TX though.

It was a little over $1000 total for the carrier, lsd, and 1LE ring and pinion kit. Yeah, $700 was for the center section but it did not include the ring and pinion kit.

How much ? And y 3.23 gears not 3.27 ? That must be a typo

I'm sorry but if you're going to be doing this swap for the gearing change instead of the LSD, I'd go big or go home and do the 3.91 gears of the 1LE. Something to think about is that as far as I know, you'll have to get tune to correct your speedo for the gearing difference. A tune means voided warranty.

Yeah I'm going with a full 1LE rear end, which, to my knowledge is just an SS setup with 3.91gears. I'm getting the adjustment for speedo/odo done soon after. My install guys are including a dyno day in my labor costs so I'll be going 3.91 and advancing ignition timing and such. I'll have a lot to be thankful for at thanksgiving lol.

So I can purchase the v6 m6 carrier and gm 3.91 gears and I can have it installed in my 2ls with the stock axles and driveshaft?

You're going to need different axles as well. 2LS has different axles from the rest of the Camaro fleet. Luckily those don't cost near as much as everything else.

I think you guys are mixing up the "carrier" and the "housing"... You can not install 8.6" gears (3.91) in a 7.6" housing, regardless of the carrier (which is the thing that the ring gear bolts to)

If you want 3.91 gears, you have to get the m6 v6/SS housing, internals, and externals (axles, hubs, drive shaft).

Oops! Yeah you're right. I was saying carrier to mean the entire differential gear box. Good spot, sir!

Yea I also was carrier meaning entire differential.

Can't wait till 6bangerBOOM installs his rear end. Looking forward to the results.
