Using quality parts you're looking at about $800 to $1000 This is without all the fancy stuff.

Depends on how fancy you want to get. A basic AR-15 with a 16" barrel can be bought for $600-$800. You can get fancy and they can get real expansive if you want. My latest AR that I built cost just over $2,500.

You can acknowledge there is a difference between these guns without wanting to give them up. All I can get out of what you said, is that you have to think they're all equal, or you fall into a "Supposedly gun rights advocate" category, which is absurd. Acknowledging a difference is not grounds for anything except acknowledging a difference and not sounding like a nitwit. Not an insult directed at you by the way, but that's how people see those saying "what's the difference... they both can kill easily". There IS a difference. |

Seriously though, retarded circumstances aside, one can put together a nice, reliable AR15 rifle for around $900. And that's pimped with Magpul/Hogue accessories. Atleast that's what I came up with when I priced another build. You can build lower than that, but for the parts I personally would want to use, $800-1000 is where you will land. Of course, you can just buy a Colt LE6920 for that price and have a damn fine rifle with no work. My rifle has about $1300 in it (over a period of two years of modifying) -Bravo Company BFH Lightweight Upper (Midlength - 16") -Bravo Company Mod 4 Big Latch charging handle -Magpul rear backup sight, scout light mount, ACS-L stock, hand guard, and front sling attachment -Hogue grip -Primary Arms micro dot w/ quick detach base -VTAC sling -Midwest Industries rear sling QD loop -Streamlight TLR1S light All I want to do now is upgrade the trigger. One day I may buy a real Aimpoint for it.

Really broad question. And poorly timed Completely depends on the type of AR you're wanting to build. Got a picture of one to maybe give us an idea of what kind you want to build?

I've shot dpms, colt, Daniel defense and sig ar 15s. I would not call dpms a piesce of junk. I absolutely love it and happy I didn't pay double to get different type.

Is DPMS junk? Not exactly. A friends DPMS AR10 runs fine. Fit and finish is so-so but it's reliable. I would buy one if I couldn't afford anything better. There's nothing wrong with a $600 DPMS Sporter from WalMart if that's all your looking for. But I could, so I opted for a better product. That's all Now, compare DPMS to Bravo Company, Troy, Daniel Defense, Noveske...

It's high, but $1067 For a Colt 6920 is pretty reasonable. Less than I have seen online at any rate. Before all this mess my local WalMart always had the DPMS Sporter, a Colt 6920, and a Sig Sauer on hand (both a regular AR type Sig and their own little contraption, whatever it's called).

As a Canadian with some American friends (Camaro peeps) and relatives living in the USA (CAL), I was wondering if American citizens can buy certain (fire) arms without any ID in some states?

So many state laws dictate gun purchases. Here in Ga you do not have to register firearms. They're finally closing the loop holes of non background check gun purchases at local gun shows in GA. |
