A lot of it depends on driving style .... There are also reports that those with the A6 are getting better MPG with it in " M " .....

Over 1850 miles of non stop driving (except for gas) from WI to NV by way of Wyoming and Utah averaged 24.7mpg. My BMW 530I averages about 32 mpg on the same route.

Its also about how much you are breaking the law when you get popped. For some people while a v6 means a ticket, the extra power in a v8 means jail time.

Lacks a lot of power at higher altitudes and down shifts much too often.

I drive about 80% highway and 20% city, and my blended average is about 26 mpg. I have seen it as high as 33 on the highway with a warm engine and no traffic in the way.

Not an excuse... I know me; I would be a lot more tempted to break the law. Especially with all the punks out there trying to proof a point… then you have to take them down. Show them how boss…lol.

EPA and DOE changed the way they calculate mpg for the last several years and the estimates are a lot more accurate since about 2007 or 2008 when the change was made. Of course, it depends on the way you drive and speed. If you set it on 65 or 70 with cruise control, I would expect to get 29 on the highway on a level surface and no wind. All the things mentioned above (altitude, grade, acceleration, weather, wind direction and speed) would also be factors.

I got 30.5 the first day with the Canadian gas, once I started using the new england crap they dish out it went down to 26 or 27 all highway.
Hope to bump it up after the first oil change using sport mode.

I went to Springfield Il on 2 lane highways through towns (200 miles) and got 26 MPG in sport mode. It was raining and windy. I got 27 going home with less wind but still raining in sport mode. I drove to Louisville Ky area and averaged 25 MPG but there was road construction wind and rain plus all the hills on I 64. I had quite a bit of in town driving to and I left it in sport mode. I get 21 to 24 MPG driving from my home in the country and around town. The 2010 3.6 L auto gets better gas mileage than my 94 3.4 L V-6 5 speed manual Camaro. I'm going to check the next tank of fuel using drive to see if their is any difference in the fuel economy. I have about 2100 miles on my 1LT Camaro now so its not broke in yet. I think mine would do about 30 MPG on level highway with no wind at 65 to 70 MPH.
