Best twisty roads for a cruise in NorCal

So, I just moved to the East Bay a few weeks ago, and don't know the area too well. That and since my loving fiancee decided to have her bridal shower on my birthday I kinda want to grab the keys and go for a long cruise around NorCal.

Looking for any suggestions on any roads that when you got finished with, you were like 'wow that was awesome, let's do it again!'. So far with my limited experience it is the road leading to/away from S. Lake Tahoe.

Thanks ahead of time!

A lot of people including my self like highway 17 heading towards Santa Cruz. The curvy roads make it fun to drive.

If u have some time get on 280 and hop on highway 84 and take woodside road in redwood city and that highway leads all the way to highway 1. It long and has a lot of turns to it. It's a lot of fun if there isn't a lot of people. There is also a restaurant at the beginning of it called Alices restaurant. It's kinda a bikers place but when cars roll in they don't mind.

took highway 9 last night all the way to santa cruz. you can also take 92 west towards half moon bay; take a right onto skyline and that takes you threw the mountains all the way to the south bay. Theres also Mines Rd that you can get to from Livermore and Mt. Hamilton from south san jose.

So far I'm taking everyone's suggestions and going to make a day of it. Can head up north and come down over Golden Gate bridge, up 92, down 84, down 1, up 17.

I generally assume one way is more entertaining than the other, so I can reverse the route if need be...

Hwy 70 and Hwy 49 both are very good long roads for windy trips. Hwy 70 will dump you out on 395 just north of Reno and Hwy 49 will hit up with Hwy 89 above Truckee. All day roads, beautiful scenery and nice elevation changes.

When I was riding street I would head up there for breakfast all the time. On the weekends unless you arrive really early it is hard to find a place to park with all the motorcyclists.

The only problem with 17 is that many people don't:
a) know how to drive
b) push their cars well past the limits
c) see a & b

I lived in Santa Cruz for 5 years and was on that road many times. I was just there a few weeks ago, and while the road has gotten better, they other drivers have gotten worse. Case in point, an older toyota pick-up, with gardening equipment in the bed, on a "donut" spare barreling past me, splitting traffic, spins in one of the turns and is pointed the wrong direction. All this at 5 pm on a Friday! Great road, just be careful. Hwy. 152 to Gilroy off Hwy 1 is also very nice. Much less crowded than 17.

Another vote for Hwy 70 also CA 128. It runs from Hwy 101 out of Cloverdale out to Hwy 1 they just re paved most of it.

Can't wait to get back into town and check all these places out now

Especially since I'm getting a ton of performance mods done over the next week and a half

I vote for mt. Hamilton, the turns are real sharp and if you drive like me, you'll be thinking to yourself "wow what a rush!". I've only driven it once and I loved the adrenaline rush I got from it! Rod, you should plan a drive up there in a few weeks
