Toyota vs GM

I hadn't noticed this anywhere and thought some may be interested in casting their vote.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17437402/site/newsweek/

GM is currently at 79%

I was only able to vote once, so I don't know how many people may be voting multiple times or if they even can (I'm assuming if you clear cookies it won't recognize you anymore). But I'd rather have GM win (or lose) fairly and only vote once.

This is what i don't understand... how can Toyota be narrowing the gap at the rate they are in the local market, but yet 83% of the people who have responded to this pole (approximtely 78,000 people at the time I typed this) indicate that they feel GM makes "better" cars (better is fairly ambiguous in this sense, but still..). 78,000 responses is a pretty decent sample, and you know that they are unique votes because you can't vote twice with the same IP.

It is on the quarterly sales... votes mean nothing if GM doesn't wake up soon.

Can you elaborate on that? What exactly do you mean it is on the quarterly sales? What is 'it'?

Based on their sales report.
Their quarter reports to be exact, GM has been suffering a huge loss on every quarter. Maybe a minor gain here and there but not enough to resurface. With that said, It is not that Toyota is "better", it is the fact that our current giant GM is losing money thus letting the Japanese rivals to catch up quick. On top of that their "junk" status gives them a harder time to borrow money.

A good source with neat tables and cash flow, balance sheets etc.

83, glad I could support--

you know, I have to comment-leave it to the Japs to try and destroy our auto leader...WE MADE THEM. After the war, we helped them rebuild. We even helped to structure their gov't. And this is how we get thanked, to have them manipulate the public into believing that their crap is better than our own crap.
Seriously though. They should have quit while they're behind...Here's my forecast-they will surpass GM-nothing can stop that now. BUT GM WILL RISE!! The foreigners will make a mistake and GM will squash all the "moving forward" out of Toyota, until they're laying on the road staring up at dual tailpipes wishing they never crossed the General.

On a somewhat related "Toyota note", I am SO F'ING SICK of those commercials for the Tundra and Toyota's transparent effort to try and make me believe it's soooo American!

From the "deep" voice, the "assembled in America" remark, etc., AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every time I see one of them, I curse at the TV and give it the finger.

(maybe I need to seek some help :o )
